Shopsense vs. rewardStyle

rewardstyle, shopsense, purse, affiliate links, blogging, blog tips, style blog

Okay, y'all, this is a blog post I've been wanting to write for a long time... but I had to do some research before I could put my thoughts down on paper online. Anywho, for the last year or two, I have wondered a lot about affiliate sites and decided that today is the day I am going to break them down. Not the simple stuff like, "What is an affilliate site?", but the question that everyone wonders when they first start using affiliate sites-- "What is better? Shopsense or rewardStyle?" Well, today I have the answer for you.

After going back through some of my analytics and "rewards" it appears that I signed up with rewardStyle back in March of this year. A couple of weeks ago I started thinking about the commission I have made from rewardStyle and decided to put it to the test against Shopsense. After looking at my click-through rate, one thing was obvious: my readers love to click my links, but don't always make a purchase. So, in hopes of testing a theory, and trying to make more money, I decided to switch all of my links over to Shopsense for a month and compare the results.

So, for the past four weeks, my links have been through Shopsense instead of rewardStyle and guess what? I have made more money in the last month than I have in the past few with rewardStyle. I know, I know, you're wondering if this will work for you. Well, lets find out. I challenge you to test your readers. Check out your click-through rates, purchases, number of unique readers. Test out both sites. Many blogs that I read swear by rewardStyle but I have learned that my audience works better with Shopsense and there is nothing wrong with that!

So, I am not saying that everyone should switch over today-- but I think that now is as good of a time as any to check out your analytics and make sure what you're doing is benefitting you the best that it can. Spend some time getting to know your readers and make sure that your affiliate links are doing all they can for your blog.

  1. I think ShopSense definitely makes more sense for smaller blogs who just don't command that "buying power" that bigger blogs bring. I'm in the process of switching over, but it's definitely been a challenge because I love some of the features that RewardStyle has over ShopSense.

    1. Totally agree. I still love both for different reasons but have just found that ShopSense fits my readers so much better. Thanks for weighing in!

  2. I believe ShopSense certainly can make much more feeling with regard to scaled-down weblogs that simply do not order which "buying power" which larger weblogs provide. I am along the way associated with changing more than, however it is certainly already been challenging simply because I really like a few of the functions which RewardStyle offers more than ShopSense.

  3. Thanks for the info! I've been using ShopSense but wondering about the benefits of Rewards Style. Can you tell when your readers make a purchase through ShopSense or is it just when they click the links?

    Thanks again for sharing! :)

    1. Hi Alice,

As far as I can tell, it's just clicks. But I was only using rS for awhile and noticed how very few of my clicks resulted in sales, so for now, SS makes much more sense for me. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I've not used reward style and joined shop sense this evening. I realise each blog is diff but roughly how long does it take u to get one payout? Also how many posts do u do per week using shop sense? Thanks

  5. I'm lately using the affiliation program of FashionOnlineAdvisor.com - http://www.fashiononlineadvisor.com/ViewShopStaticPage.aspx?ValueId=4334 - and have decent results. They are not as big as the other mentioned here but they give a solid 5c per click out and seems to have a large inventory of products / merchants. It's very easy to use their links either; just define your blog URL on the registration form and then, every link back to them from blog is automatically tracked; no complex at all!
