I have a love/ hate relationship with Labor Day. I love having a three-day weekend in the warm weather, but I hate that it means that summer is ending. But now that I am back in Reno, I am reminded of all of the great things there are to do around town during the long weekend. There is the Rib Cookoff, the first college football game of the year, cookouts, trips to Tahoe and more. I am pretty excited about the long weekend ahead and even more excited about all the exciting things to come next week. Cough, launch of the Southwest Blog Society, cough. I hope that you have a great long weekend and pack as much as you can in to the last few days of summer before it ends, unofficially of course.

Do you have any items that you always travel with? I'd love to hear what you can't leave behind in the comments!
Yesterday, I packed up my bag and flew to Tampa for a quick, overnight work trip. I wanted to point out the essentials that every girl needs for an overnight trip away from home:
1. iPhone/ iPad charger. With technology so crucial to our daily lives, this is one of the most important things to remember… and one of the easiest to forget. I recently bought a travel charger to throw in my purse in case I need some instant battery power.
2. Your iPad. Nothing makes a flight more enjoyable than an iPad. Especially when you rent a movie beforehand.
3. A dressy top for meetings. A simple color with some texture (or a bow!) is definitely a must-have.
4. A cardigan. Conference room always tend to be freezing and you can always use an extra layer. I love the color of this Tory Burch cardi. How perfect for summer?
5. A watch. Although phones automatically change for time zone differences, it's always nice to have the time at a glace on your wrist. Oh, and it adds some sparkle to your outfit.
6. A skirt. You can never go wrong with a flattering skirt. I love traveling in them and wearing them to conferences. They are versatile, trendy and always add a boost of confidence. I prefer skirts to pants any day.
7. A cross-body bag. This is great for heading out after a conference for dinner or to explore the city. It's a great time to leave your daily bag behind and carry something a little smaller and bolder. I adore this yellow number from Marc Jacobs.
8. Statement heels. With a simple outfit, there is no better way to stand out in a meeting.
9. Sunglasses. You can never be too prepared for weather. Especially when you are heading somewhere this time of year. Also, sunglasses are one of my favorite accessories, so I never travel without them.
10. A great pair of earrings to go with any outfit. Gold studs are always a hit.

Spring Has Sprung
Top: Zero + Maria Pants: Alice + Olivia Shoes: Kate Spade Clutch: Miss Co Necklace: Sence Copenhagen Earrings: C. Wonder Bracelet: Oliver Bonas Sunglasses: Karen Walker Mug: Ashley Brooke Designs
This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Spring has sprung. With temperatures still in the 20s-30s here in DC, it is hard to think about donning spring apparel, yet I picked out a few things I am currently craving for the upcoming season. Clearly, I still can't get enough gold in my life so I picked out plenty of cute gold accessories, including those adorable Kate Spade sandals. Oh, how I dream of the days of wearing sandals again!
Also, I recently discovered Ashley Brooke Designs and I am in love with just about everything she makes. Her mugs, her business cards, EVERYTHING. Someday I hope to own at least one of each item in her store. Oh, and she has no idea who I am, I am just a huge fan of her work.
Hope you have a great weekend! Keep your fingers crossed for Spring weather!
