Floral Rompers

may flowers1/ 2/ 3/ 4

Can you believe we are already into May? It's hard to believe I have been out in Nevada for almost a month already! The time has really flown by. Yesterday the high was 87 and we are supposed to keep these amazing temperatures around for awhile. I couldn't be happier about this dry heat and I finally found a way to wear my new romper out this week.

After wearing it, I realized that I need more in my life. These rompers are such a fun/ easy way to get ready during the summer and the floral ones above are too cute to pass up. I mean, that bright colored one on the end would be sooo cute for Sunday brunch.

Today's the last day to enter my Firmoo giveaway!

Seeing Green

Sweater/ Nail Polish/ Earrings/ Tank (on sale!)/ Clasp Purse/ Dress/ Bracelet/ Clutch

Can you believe we're already through the first week of March? It's been tough getting into a spring mindset with the freezing temps lately but March always makes me think of wearing green, leprechauns and celebrating-- especially because March is my mom's birthday. I am not a huuuge fan of green but there are some shades that I enjoy. I think pale green can be so pretty and it looks great with white-- another color I haven't seen much of lately. Although, I think it's just about time to pull my white jeans out of storage. I've been missing them a lot lately.

What's your favorite way to wear this lucky shade?

Mad for Plaid

Top: Banana Republic  Scarf: Zara (sold out, but similar here)  Pants: Gap  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Shoes: Nine West  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot here and here

It's finally here.
This scarf.
I have been eyeing this scarf for weeks and it seems like I have done just about everything to ensure that I own it. I first spotted it on Cathy and then on a few others bloggers as time passed and I knew that I had to have it.
I went to Georgetown during lunch one day last week to see if the Zara there had it and it was sadly sold out. I decided I would just order it online when I realized I could not purchase it in-store... until I got online to see that it was on backorder. I panicked, then added my name to the wait list. Luckily, I woke up on Monday to an email from Zara saying the scarf was back in stock. I ordered the scarf immediately (yes, from my phone) and waited for it to arrive. Coming home from work on Wednesday night was extra exciting when I saw that the box was sitting at my doorstep. It arrived!
Now that this fabulous scarf is mine, I am worried I will never take it off. It is the softest, warmest, most cuddliest scarf ever. Now, the real question is... do I order it in blue as well?

Sweater Weather

sweater weather

1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8

Sweater weather is one of my favorite times of the year. That is, until I get so tired of all my sweaters and boots and start counting down the days until summer and the freedom of skirts without tights. Because I've got plenty of time until I hit that point, I was so excited to see this week's Friday's Fancies theme.
I have been on the lookout for some great new sweaters as of late and a few of my faves are listed above. #2 and $5 are my favorites by far. But how cute is #4?
I actually fell in love with a cat sweater last year similar to the one above and by the time I went to buy it, it was only available in xxs. I am hoping to order it much sooner this year and own that crazy adorable sweater before it's too late.
I've also been seeing Aztec prints everywhere these days and that sweater looks like it would pair perfectly with tights and a cozy scarf. Just talking about those warm things gets me so excited for the sweater weather we are finally having.
Have a great weekend!

Travel in Style

When looking through past blog posts for inspiration, I realized how frequently I post about travel. I have outfit posts about traveling in style here, here and here as well as my 10 Things to Pack for an Overnight Work Trip post. I decided that instead of another outfit post, I would narrow it down to 5 tips to remember when traveling, all of which I will be putting to work tomorrow when I head home for 9 days.

1. Never get on a plane without a DKNY Cozy. Seriously. This sweater can be worn in so many ways and is the perfect way to layer up for a cold flight. Need a blanket? Done. Need a scarf? Done. I mean, this sweater is so versatile it even has an app.

2. Always download movies from iTunes. I am not really sure how I ever made it on long plane rides before iTunes was around. Sure, I read magazines and books but having access to movies or tv shows I' need to catch up on is so worth it. Even when movies are $5 and shows are $3, I find it is well worth the money to have the plane ride fly by. Also, they don't use up too much battery on your computer so you can still use your computer for other things such as catching up on work or drafting future blog posts.

3. Make sure your purse is stocked with the essentials, just in case they lose your checked bag. I always carry my glasses, prescriptions, socks, some touch-up makeup (mascara, powder, gloss), cell phone charger and some snacks. I tend to fill my purse up, but it's nice to only carry the one bag through the airport. Some must-have snacks: gum, beef jerky, and something salty-- lately I've picked either popcorn or chex mix. It really just depends on my mood.

(I found these hilarious socks and HAD to post them)

4. One app that I discovered on my last trip was passbook. I know that it comes standard on iPhones, but have you ever used it? It is a great way to keep all of your travel documents in one place-- boarding passes, car rentals, etc. They pull up quickly and look much fancier than the other e-boarding documents, plus you don't have to search through email forever while getting through security. Be sure to use passbook on your next travel day. You won't regret it.

5. Invest in quality luggage. I can't stress this tip enough. For most of my life I traveled with bargain luggage that I found on sale at Macys. Boy, did I miss out. This past summer, I splurged on a new Samsonite bag with wheels that spin 360 degrees. It is lightweight and very durable. I actually snagged it at TJMaxx (who knew they had such a great selection) and knew my travel days would instantly be improved after making this purchase. I can pack more due to the lightweight material and it easily rolls on any surface. I am not sure how I survived those first twenty-something years of my life. Having nice luggage makes every step of travel easier. Plus, TJMaxx tends to have pretty decent-sized bags, all for around $100-- not a bad price for nice luggage.

Do you have any travel tips that you swear by?

Party Wear

150

Dress: Alice and Olivia  Boots: Sergio Rossi  Clutch: Aldo  Necklace: Blue Nile  Earrings: Kate Spade  Bracelet: RJ Graziano  Nail Polish: Butter London

First off, CONGRATULATIONS to Alison for 150 Friday's Fancies. With it's success I not only discovered your fabulous blog, but many others that have quickly become daily reads. I am so happy to be a part of this weekly link-up and become inspired by everyone's fancy post. Congrats, girl!

Now, to this week's topic, because we are all in a celebratory mood, the theme of the week was dressing up for a fancy party (to celebrate Friday's Fancies of course!). I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it and wish that I had the money to add it to my closet. It is a great dress for the winter and has so much potential for fun accessorizing. Hopefully I can find something similar to add to my collection soon.

Color Crush: Royal Blue

royal blue

I clearly followed the Friday's Fancies rule this week: highlight items you'd own if money were not an issue... because I think I can realistically only afford three of these items. The other items that I can't justify right now really inspire me to find look-a-likes. I cannot get enough of this jewel tone these days and find myself wanting to wear it daily. Did I mention my nails are currently this color? It's the perfect fall transition color.
What is your current color crush?

Work Wear: Best Dressed Edition

best dressed in the office

Top/ Skirt/ Earrings/ Bag/ iPad case/ Watch/ Heels

I could not have been more excited when I saw this week's theme for Friday's Fancies because I am the girl that has to dress up for work every day. Well, we can wear jeans on Fridays, but the other 80% of the time we have to be in work apparel. I can't wait to see what other ideas I find in the link-up because I am always looking for new work inspiration.

I am absolutely loving the look above. It is simple and classy and can easily take you from one season to the next. And because I have a thing for leopard accents these days, I had to throw in the leopard iPad case. I mean, what would this NOT go with?

I am also dreaming of owning those Louboutin heels some day.
A girl has to have goals, right?

Fall Wish List: Home Edition

fall wish list

Mug/ Pillows/ Pumpkins/ Candle/ Table/ Wall Art

One of my favorite things about the cooler weather is decorating my house for fall. I don't know what it is about pumpkin scented candles and orange decor but I can't seem to get enough. I love the small accents around the house and the smell of fall all around. Some of my favorites are pictured above, especially the Brittany Fusion wall art-- I have two of her pieces hanging now and I would love to add to my collection. If you have never seen her stuff, go check her out... now. It's amazing.
Oh, and I'm in the market for a new coffee table sometime in the near future. Something along the lines of the one above.

What are you currently hoping to snag for the fall season?

College Game Day

Happy Friday the 13th! I am so excited to be spending tonight at my friend's wedding back in Reno. I plan on dancing the night away while catching up with lots of old friends.

Today's theme for Friday's Fancies is all about football game day apparel. And while I am no longer in school, I have to admit that I am a loyal watcher of College Game Day on ESPN. Lee Corso and his headgear are one of my favorite things to wake up to on Saturday mornings. If I ever wake up early and head out to watch a game, here is what you can find me wearing:

Fall Transitional Pieces

fall

Necklace/ Sweater/ Boots/ Jeans/ Skirt/ Bag

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, my brain is slowly accepting that summer is ending and fall is upon us. The cooler mornings this past week really helped me realize that it is just about time for scarves and boots. While I am really excited about the cooler weather this year (yep, the humidity has made me less of a fan of summer) I am still not ready to fully give up on my summer wardrobe.
The key to wearing summer pieces into the cooler months is all about transitional pieces. A few of my favorites are listed above. They can help take just about any piece in your closet and help you wear it for a few more weeks.
My very favorite piece to help transition to the cooler weather is a statement necklace. I find myself buying them more and more and incorporating them into my daily attire. I think they are a great way to dress up a casual top and can really help change the look of an outfit.
I have become a huge fan of animal sweaters lately. No matter what the animal, I find that I need it in my closet. Wearing them with a pair of shorts is a perfect transitional look.
Leather is EVERYWHERE these days and I think a leather skirt is the perfect way to wear the look without being too hot. Even though the weather has been a little cooler, we are still seeing mid-80s during the day around here which really prohibits the wear of leather jackets. These skirts go with just about everything and are a great addition to any closet.

5 Ways to Wear White Before Labor Day: Day 5

Because this weekend is Labor Day, I have done my best to pull out my white pieces for the past week and really make sure to get as much wear out of them as possible. As I said on Monday, I agree with the new school of thinking that white can definitely be worn after Labor Day, but sometimes I get insecure about it. Hey, I'll admit it. And even though I did wear a lot of white this week, I still plan on pulling some of it out following this weekend. I mean, white jeans are always fabulous. Especially in the winter.

Dress: Ann Taylor similar here  Shoes: Target  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Vest: Forever 21  Bag: Target no longer available  Ring: Stella and Dot  Bracelet: Flea Market  Watch: Michael Kors

Today I styled my favorite white dress. I have had this dress for years but find that it is so much more versatile than I ever imagined. It can be dressed up (if done right) or dressed down as I did in today's post. I love white dresses in the summer because they make me feel tan, even when I am not. I am sad to say this will probably be the last wear for this dress for awhile, but I know that there will still be plenty of white in my outfits.
So, what do you think? Can you wear white after Labor Day?

6 Must-haves for Back to School

back to school
With all of the ads for back to school,  I can't help but put together a list of a few things I am craving. While I may not be heading BTS this year, it's a great time of year to get a few must-haves for fall.  Here are six things I am currently lusting after.

1. Ankle boots. While I have a couple pairs already, these are so casual with the buckles and I think having a pair of booties that can be dressed up or down are essential for the fall season. I prefer black, but brown ones would be a great addition to my closet as well.

2. Ashley Brooke Designs mug. If I were heading back to school this year, I would want a new travel mug to transport caffeine to and from the library. But, because I am out of school, I would love to treat myself to one of the mugs I have been lusting over from Ashley Brooke Designs. All of her mugs are a perfect way to wake up and this one is one of my very faves.

3. Animal Sweater. Last fall, I fell in love with a J.Crew cat sweater but sadly discovered it too late. They were out of my size in-stores and online; I have been looking for a replacement since. This sweater from C.Wonder is on my list because it has a perfect color scheme plus the puppy is too cute. Definitely the next best thing to that cat sweater.

4. Gold clutch. I have had my eye on a few gold bags as of late and sadly, I did not score the Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC (in rose gold) during the summer sale (see what cold feet can do to a girl?) I am still keeping a close watch on a few gold bags and this envelope clutch is at the top of the list. It is sleek and affordable-- two must-haves for a fall bag.

5. Sunglasses. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want new sunglasses.  Heck, I ALWAYS want new sunglasses. I am addicted. This Kate Spade pair would look fabulous with a hat and scarf and easily transition from fall to winter. Dying for these.

6. Leather top. Leather is all over the place these days (as well as faux leather) and I am thrilled. Something about black leather has a sort of badboy feel and I can't wait to incorporate more of it into my wardrobe. I have a skirt and a jacket right now, but how fun would it be to rock this leather top to work for casual Friday.
Can't. Wait.

What pieces are you craving for back to school?

What to Wear to a Fall Wedding

Over the next few weeks, Brad and I are attending three weddings. With so many weddings in the near future, I have started planning some of my outfits, especially for the weddings across the country. Each of the weddings is requiring cocktail dress attire so at least picking out dresses should not be too much of a struggle.

The first wedding that we are attending is for one of Brad’s coworkers where I will probably know nobody at the wedding. I am planning on wearing something simple that will be comfortable yet fun as it is on a Friday evening. I am currently loving this dress from DressFirst. I love how simple it is with solid black and will be perfect for accessorizing.

The second wedding we are attending is in my hometown in Reno, Nevada. One of my sorority sisters is getting married and I already purchased my dress. It is a very colorful strapless dress with a tulip hemline. I will be sure to post photos in a few weeks following the wedding.

The third wedding we will be heading to is going to be in Washington, DC. Because it is in the beginning of October, I want to wear something a little more geared towards fall. I am obsessed with this gold number from DressFirst. It is a great color for fall and would look stunning on the dance floor.

After scouring this website for dress inspiration for my upcoming weddings, I can’t believe what a great selection there is with such great price points.

Treat Time: Watermelon Crush

watermelon

1: Top: Pieces  Skirt: DVF  Bag: Karen Millen  Necklace: Kate Spade
2: Top: Celeb Boutique  Skirt: DVF  Bag: Nasty Gal  Necklace: Humble Chic
3: Top: Jane Norman  Skirt: DVF  Bag: The Iconic  Belt: Dorothy Perkins

This past Monday, I showed off my new favorite crop top... which truly inspired this week's Friday's Fancies post. I can't seem to get enough of the crop top + skirt look and wanted to pick out three fabulous outfits incorporating this style.

This week's theme is Treat Time. I chose watermelon as it screams summer to me. Watermelon is one of those foods you pull out for summer cookouts and days at the beach... which is exactly where you can find me this weekend. Taking in some sun on the Eastern Shore.

Which of the top three looks would you pick? I think I would choose to wear #3 for a night out-- I think it's something about the skinny belt. I love them!

Style Crush

You know that blogger that you always wish you had their clothes/ style/ etc? Well, I do. This week's Friday's Fancies theme is Style Crush and I knew instantly who I would pick as soon as Alison announced the theme. While, I am sure it is pretty expected and just about everyone with a style/ fashion blog loves her, but I have to admit, I love Blair from Atlantic Pacific. She can pull off anything she puts on and always looks fabulous doing it. Here are a few of my favorite looks:
