Light Reading

ipad cases
iPad Cases I am currently eyeing: 1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6
I recently finished reading my first full book on my iPad and am now hooked on e-reading. I read Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg and finished the book feeling motivated and inspired. For those who haven't read it, I really think everyone should read it. I was really hesitant at first, thinking it was a "women's movement/ yay feminism!" type book but I couldn't have been more wrong. The book really focuses on changing thinking for all and really leaves the reader feeling like they can make a difference in this world. Now that I am done with that book, I am looking for more summer reading to add to my iPad. Any suggestions?

Red, Black and White

Sweatshirt: Target very similar online here  Jeans: Rock & Republic very similar and on sale here  Shoes: Nine West  Sunglasses: DVF  Necklace: Stella and Dot

I have no idea why, but for some reason, these pants look like they have an ombre tint in almost every one of these photos. I'll chock that up to a bad photographer (ahem, me) but still choose to use them. I actually love every part of this outfit--even though it is super casual. I snagged this sweater on clearance at Target for a whopping $5.99. I mean, a $5 sweatshirt that has the potential to be dressed up? I'm sold. I had no idea how warm it was until I actually wore it and was lucky enough to put this outfit together last weekend when we had a high of sixty degrees. Can you say no coat? Love it. Now, if only the weather would get back to that tolerable level because I am really over these freezing cold temps.

Rainy Day Hair

Whenever I wake up and see rain outside, I immediately start brainstorming ways to do my hair creatively so it doesn't look like a crazy mess by the time I arrive in the office. Braids have always been my go-to for bad weather and it seems like it's been months since I braided my hair before a day at work. It was so nice to pull my hair off my shoulders with this easy look and still look like I tried to do something with these frizzy locks.

Here are a few other hairstyles I'd love to try for our next rainy day in the city:
1. Side twisted updo
2. Baby braids + braided bun
3. Loose, messy bun

What's your favorite way to wear your hair on a rainy day?

Weekend Recap

This weekend turned out to be a fabulous one even though I went into it with very few plans. I kicked off the weekend with a stop at Dunkin and then went into the city for the NBC Health Expo. I got to meet Al Roker and cross that moment off my bucket list. After a few more hours of wandering around, I went home for a much needed nap after watching Argo, which I've been wanting to see for years. I went shopping for a bit after the nap and then came home, got ready and went out for a fun night with friends.

Sunday was full of fun as well. After getting my necessary chores out of the way, I showered, threw on my 49ers jersey and met up with some friends for a Sunday Funday in DC. We watched the Niners win and celebrated throughout the afternoon. I forgot how much fun Sunday Fundays are! I wrapped up the weekend with another nap, the Golden Globes and the new episode of Revenge.

Nothing beats a fabulous weekend! Hope you had a great one!

With all of the leaves beginning to change colors around me, I was inspired to do something I haven't done in years... dye my hair brown. I am not really sure where the actual idea came from, but it's something I've been toying with for the past few months. I think that with the cool weather hitting the day I went to the salon, in addition to getting excited for dark nail polish and lots of layers, I knew it was the perfect time. I wasn't sure how dark I wanted to go but I left my appearance in the hands of my stylist and let her work her magic.

I walked out of the salon feeling quite unsure but I am excited for this next chapter in my life.

Here's to blondes not having more fun!
