With all of the leaves beginning to change colors around me, I was inspired to do something I haven't done in years... dye my hair brown. I am not really sure where the actual idea came from, but it's something I've been toying with for the past few months. I think that with the cool weather hitting the day I went to the salon, in addition to getting excited for dark nail polish and lots of layers, I knew it was the perfect time. I wasn't sure how dark I wanted to go but I left my appearance in the hands of my stylist and let her work her magic.

I walked out of the salon feeling quite unsure but I am excited for this next chapter in my life.

Here's to blondes not having more fun!

Stripes and Florals

Lately I have been all about the mixing of patterns. While I am still hesitant to try it often on my own, I am always so excited about the look when it comes together. My first couple of times playing with pattern-mixing (here and here) really helped me test the waters to see how I felt about the whole concept of not perfectly matching, something I felt I always had to do.
I picked up this shirt last weekend (as if I needed another striped top) because, well, I don't have a good excuse. I just liked it. I like the navy contrasting with the brighter colors, so I convinced myself that I needed it. I wanted to wear it with a skirt earlier this week, but honestly, it's been much too cold for that. I paired it with these navy pants and tried to think of how I could dress up the outfit a little, because it was just a simple top and slacks. Shoes. Shoes are always the answer. I threw on my floral flats and thought the combo was just what I was looking for. Finally, I am able to say I successfully mixed stripes and florals: two of my favorite trends right now.
Have you had a lot of success mixing the two? I'd love to see the looks you've put together. Please leave your links in the comments. I'll be sure to check them out!
