After trying this shirt one with about 100 pairs of pants last week, I finally pulled out my freshly-hemmed (by yours truly) Citizens and opted for a laid-back date look. I originally envisioned this shirt with white shorts or my leather skirt, but decided that it's just as cute when dressed down with a comfy pair of jeans and sandals.

I originally spotted this top on the LOFT Instagram feed and thought it was just about the cutest shirt I had seen in years. Insta-marketing totally works. I found myself in the store later that day and walking out with this beauty in my bag.

Have you ever fallen in love with something on Instagram and bought it asap? Please say yes. I hope I'm not alone on this.

It's been awhile since I threw on a skirt and left the house feeling extra girly. I think the amount of sweatshirts I've been wearing lately have really been impacting my attitude and making me a little bit lazy when it comes to getting ready each day. Last week I decided I'd had enough and finally put on a skirt and heels and got back to my girly self. I forgot how much fun it is to get dressed up and walk around with heels and a clutch. Plus, this faux leather skirt is a great way to dress up this simple (and super cute) t-shirt.

I fell in love with this shirt a few weeks ago and decided that I HAD to have it when we went to down to San Fran. I knew that we wouldn't be getting much shopping in (too much focus on football and catching up with friends) so I ordered it online and had it shipped to my doorstep. Best. Decision. Ever. I forgot how much I love online shopping. This tee was on my front porch when we got back from our weekend getaway. Perfect. Maybe one day Reno will get a Zara and all my dreams will come true.

A Little Bit Wild

I recently came across a blog that featured animal print apparel every day for a week. I am not a huge fan of animal print... unless it is in small doses. That blog inspired me to bring a little bit of leopard into my outfit today. I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple so it didn't look too busy. I love scarves so much and I am so excited I found a way to bring them into the workplace.

As you can probably tell, today's photos are not the same quality as my usual posts. When I went out to take pictures yesterday morning (in the rain!) I got outside to find that my camera was dead. I had taken so many photos during my photography class the night before and I forgot to charge my battery, so I apologize for the low quality iPhone photos I posted today.
I know that I have mentioned my photography class before but I am in love with it! We went out on the water in Old Town on Sunday night to take some pictures when the rain stopped. I included a couple of photos I took with no filters or editing:

Happy Friday!
I am actually off work today but wanted to post pictures of an outfit I wore last week while attending a hearing on Capitol Hill. Because I knew there would be lots of walking, I planned my outfit around my flats. I love these flats and just recently discovered they come in other colors. Do you have a favorite pair of flats? I am definitely in need of more.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Blog Updates

Hi everyone!

Today's post is a little different than my others- I wanted to let you know about a new partnership for A Day in my Life. I recently decided to partner up with Shabby Apple.

Now for those of you who have never heard of Shabby Apple, let me tell you a little bit about them. They are a clothing company that saw a need to make women feel feminine and beautiful for what they wear, not what they bare. They offer flirty, stylish dresses a woman can wear just as comfortably in the office, at a family dinner, or on a date. Shabby Apple is a fashion company for women, by women, and of women. that has amazingly cute clothes at great prices. They have dresses, tops, you name it!

Happy August! It is so hard to believe that we are so far into 2012!
I wanted to wear another simple outfit (it seems to be the theme of the week) but decided to dress it up a little with this Stella and Dot necklace. I can't get enough of their statement necklaces! I only own a few but plan on purchasing many more in the future.
What is your favorite way to wear a statement necklace?

I have been searching for a cute black and white floral skirt for awhile now, so I was quite excited when I stumbled upon this skirt from The Limited. It is just the right length for the look I wanted-- plus, it can go with just about everything. I originally purchased it in hopes of pairing it with contrasting bright colors, but this morning I just felt like keeping it simple with a black and white outfit. I think next time I wear this skirt I will pair it with a bright top and a belt. So many options!
