DIY Tank Top

Top: DIY  Shorts: Express (old)  Shoes: Target Cuff: The Limited similar here  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelet: Alex and Ani  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Necklace: Stella and Dot

Over the weekend, while still being excited about sewing new projects, Brad mentioned that the cookout we were invited to had a strict "no sleeves" rule. Instead of just wearing a top I already owned, I decided to make another shirt to wear to the bbq. I took one of Brad's old broomball tees (it was a broomball bbq after all) and cut the back off. I thought it would be fun to add some stripes to the plain tee so I took the front of the shirt from yesterday's DIY and sewed it on to the back. I then cut off the sleeves and threw on some jewelry and was set to go.

I love the way the tank came out and I think the contrasting pattern on the back is so fun. I am already looking for more shirts around the house to switch up like I did with this one. I can't wait to try more things with my sewing machine and see if I can transform some old clothes that I hardly wear anymore.

Budget-Friendly Outfit Options

Skirt: Express Similar Style  Blazer: Mossimo Similar Style  Top: Target  Tights: Merona  Boots: Bandolino  Necklace: The Pink Palm Similar Style  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Skirt: $7
Tights: $5
Necklace: $35
Blazer: $25
Total: $84.99

Has anyone ever asked you to create an outfit for under $100? I like to put myself to the test every once and awhile and see what budget-friendly outfits I can pull together, especially after a trip to the thrift store. I don't usually include shoes in the price because boots typically cost over $100 for a quality pair, and they are something I usually splurge on.

During my last trip to the thrift store, I snagged this skirt for half price, making it only $7. Who knew you could find a like-new skirt for such a great price? I love how versatile this skirt is and the color is so vibrant.

Now, you could put this outfit together for much less, depending on the jewelry. I chose this bright yellow necklace to enhance the color of the skirt, but many of these bubble necklaces (or other bright statement necklaces) are available for under $20 on etsy and ebay. I fell in love with this one last weekend at The Pink Palm and had to scoop it up.

I think it's fun to put yourself to the test-- do you have any great thrifting finds you've used for a fabulous budget-friendly outfit? Please share your links below!
I'd love to see your posts!

New Bag: Mini M.A.C.

Top: Express Similar Style  Skirt: The Limited  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff  Tights: Hue  Boots: Bandolino  Ring: Stella and Dot  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

As I mentioned yesterday, this past weekend was my birthday. For my birthday every year, my grandpa typically sends me a card with money inside. This year, he decided to switch things up and give me birthday money while I was home for Thanksgiving. I was so excited to have my birthday present early because I began planning what to buy on Black Friday. I was so excited to come across this bag on the Rebecca Minkoff website that day and I instantly purchased it. I have been wanting this bag for a long time now and I am so happy to be it's proud new owner. It is a perfect size for just about everything.
Thank you, grandpa!
