Neon + Neutrals

Dress: Amanda Uprichard  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Sweater: J.Crew  Scarf: similar here  Bracelet: Kate Spade  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Pac Sun

One of my favorite pairings of all time has to be neon and neutrals. I think it's something about the way the neon pops against the neutral color. Instead of sticking with just simple black and white, I wanted to pair this neon dress with one of my new favorite neutrals: leopard print. Somehow prints have snuck into the neutral category in my book and I couldn't be more thrilled to wear them on a more routine basis.
Also, this dress was a find a few weeks ago when I attended the Last Call by Neiman Marcus event hosted by Maria.  I saw this dress and it screamed summer brunches to me. But, in my usual fashion of not being able to wait, I decided to pair it with tights and boots and throw it on for what I am hoping is the last of our winter weather.

Calm Before the Storm

Sweater: Forever 21 similar here  Scarf: Zara similar here  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Hat: H&M similar here  Sunglasses: Pac Sun  Bracelet: Kate Spade  Watch: Michael Kors

Well, here we are again. Another snow storm. Luckily, I was able to snap these photos yesterday before the temperatures got even colder. But don't let the sun trick you in these photos-- it was anything but warm while taking these pics.

I am not going to lie-- I can see myself in this outfit, or variations of this outfit, many times over the next few weeks. Between the packing, moving and the fact that most of my clothes are already packed, I definitely see a lot of leggings in the immediate future. At least I didn't pack up ALL of my accessories so there are plenty of ways to dress up this simple, casual outfit.

Black and Blue

Top: Black House White Market similar here  Blazer: Vince Camuto  Skirt: Peter Pilotto for Target  Tights: Hue  Boots: Target  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Bracelets: Stella and Dot and Alex and Ani  Watch: Michael Kors

When the Peter Pilotto for Target collection first came out, this skirt was my number one pick in the collection. I ordered it, plus a few other pieces in the collection, as my local Target sold out of all small sizes before 8:30am the day the collection was released. After receiving all my goodies from Target, this ended up being the only piece in the collection I kept. I love the busy pattern, the hemline, all of it. Plus, the simple black and white colors go with just about everything in my closet.

What pieces did you pick up from the new collection?

Wild One

Top: Kensie  Skirt: The Limited similar here  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Bracelets: Charming Charlie, Stella and Dot and thrifted  Watch: c/o The Watch Company  Rings: Tiffany and Co. and gifted

I don't know what it is about all these sweaters with animals on them lately but I can't seem to get enough of them. I have fallen in love with so many of them but when I spotted this zebra sweater while I was home over Christmas, I knew it was the one. I mean, it is really bold and a fun way to spice up the first week back at work. I really love how it stands out against the yellow yet picks up the bits of color in my skirt. While not everyone in the office was a huge fan, I plan on getting a lot more wear out of this sweater before the weather warms up.
This sweater would probably even be a great transitional piece with a cute pair of white shorts and some comfy TOMS for an afternoon cruising around town on a Saturday this spring. Dreaming of warm weather is the only way to get through this week. I am definitely not looking forward to today's record cold temperatures.

Starry

Dress: Material Girl Similar Style  Tights: HUE  Boots: Bandolino  Sweater: J.Crew  Scarf: Merona Similar Style  Watch: Michael Kors

Best four dollar puchase of the week: this scarf.
I clearly have an obsession with scarves these days. My closet is currently overflowing with scarves and I couldn't be more excited about this newest one. It is really soft and goes with just about everything. I threw it on with this outfit last week during the snowstorm to try and stay warm. I am now counting down the hours until our heatwave later this week.

Indoor Photos: Take Two

Dress: Ya Los Angeles  Tights: HUE  Boots: Bandolino  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot

As I've mentioned before, taking pictures inside is still a struggle for me. But with temperatures (and wind chills!) so low,  I can't imagine standing out in the cold each morning pretending to be warm. Although my pictures are not as great as I'd like, at least I'm warm… and sometimes, that is most imporant.
The last time I wore this dress,  I paired it with heels and a clutch for a night out. I think it so fun to mix up dresses for the winter and completely change the look.
What do you like better: the dress with tights and boots or the dress with heels? Let me know!

Wearing a Dress as a Skirt

Dress: Old Navy Similar Style  Top: Mossimo  Belt: Chinese Laundry Similar Style  Bracelets: Stella and Dot  Watch: Michael Kors  Tights: HUE  Boots: Bandolino

One of my favorite things to do with clothes is wear them in a new or unconventional way. (See how I wore a dress as top here!) I bought this dress a few months ago and have been in love with the pattern since. I have been hesitant to wear it again because I think the pattern is so bold, so I wanted to come up with a way to remix the dress. Pairing it with a solid top and a fun bow belt was a great way to break up the heavy pattern making the dress look entirely different. The long sleeves are also a great, easy way to take this dress from fall to winter.

Boots With The Fur

Dress: Banana Republic Similar Style  Tights: HUE  Boots: Similar Style  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelet: Stella and Dot  Glasses: ℅ Firmoo

When I woke up for work yesterday, I looked outside to see a rainy, muggy mess. Because I knew that sweatpants and a movie day weren't an option for a Monday, I decided to wear something I could count on for coziness: furry boots.
I bought these boots a few months ago and was unsure of what to wear them with. After debuting them on Halloween, I was worried they were strictly for costumes. I challenged myself to wear them with something work appropriate and styled them for the office.
What do you think? Would you wear furry boots to work?
