It's been awhile since I threw on a skirt and left the house feeling extra girly. I think the amount of sweatshirts I've been wearing lately have really been impacting my attitude and making me a little bit lazy when it comes to getting ready each day. Last week I decided I'd had enough and finally put on a skirt and heels and got back to my girly self. I forgot how much fun it is to get dressed up and walk around with heels and a clutch. Plus, this faux leather skirt is a great way to dress up this simple (and super cute) t-shirt.

I fell in love with this shirt a few weeks ago and decided that I HAD to have it when we went to down to San Fran. I knew that we wouldn't be getting much shopping in (too much focus on football and catching up with friends) so I ordered it online and had it shipped to my doorstep. Best. Decision. Ever. I forgot how much I love online shopping. This tee was on my front porch when we got back from our weekend getaway. Perfect. Maybe one day Reno will get a Zara and all my dreams will come true.

Wine Walkin'

Dress: Victoria's Secret similar here  Jacket: Gap love this one  Shoes: Shoemint  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot here and here  Sunglasses: Pac Sun  Necklace: Stella and Dot  Bag: Forever 21

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending one of my favorite local events... the Reno wine walk. I mean, what is better than wandering downtown by the river, with friends, sipping on wine? Um, not much, right? I met up with some old friends from college and bar hopped while drinking from a cute floral wine glass. I knew it was the perfect occasion to pull this dress out of my closet. There is something about the wine walk that always makes me want to throw on a dress and this blue and white number was perfect for my Saturday afternoon.

Gym Rat

fitness

Many people this time of year set resolutions that revolve around working out, losing weight or just plain getting off the couch more. While I did not choose to make any of these my actual "resolution," I recently signed up for ballet classes and am making fun workouts a bigger part of my week. One of my favorite parts of working out, other than feeling accomplished afterwards, is all of the cute apparel you can choose from before heading to the gym.

Here is my current top ten list:
1. Sports bra- flattering, yet functional. Everything you need a quality sports bra.
2. Cute Tank- I mean, is there anything more fun than a feminine tank with a funny or witty phrase on it? I think not.
3. Fitted pants- these are, by far, my favorite piece of gym apparel. I have been known to wear these frequently all the time around the house because they are just that comfortable.
4. Girly headbands- as a girl with bangs, headbands at the gym are a MUST. I can't stand my bangs smacking me in the face while working out so I never leave the house without a headband or two in my bag. I once ended up at the gym without one and ended up leaving 10 minutes into my workout because I couldn't stand my bangs getting in the way. Don't end up like me-- never forget a headband. And how could you when they are this cute?
5. Shorts- I am a huge advocate for shorts, even in the winter. I always get too hot for pants in the gym and something about them just seems so girly. I recommend these for running or lifting weights... stick to pants for those pilates classes, ladies.
6. Quality shoes- the biggest fitness secret around: good quality shoes. Without them, no activity is enjoyable. I love the color of this pair.
7. Hand weights- I highly suggest buying a set to keep at home for days it's just too cold to head to the gym. Also, there are tons of weight workouts available on YouTube and OnDemand. Who knew your tv had built in workouts? Fabulous discovery.
8. Colorful socks- even when these bad boys are hidden under running shoes, it's fun to know you have a little bit of neon keeping you going. My secret is to always wear some sort of polka dot or bright pink pair of socks. I'm not sure why but they always give me extra motivation.
9. Water bottle- hydration is key while working out, why not love your bottle more by picking up a striped one.
10. Flattering top- if an old sorority shirt or baggy tank isn't your thing or maybe you like something a little more fitted for yoga, you really can't beat these Lululemon tanks. They come in so many different colors so you can have a different one for every day you hit the gym.

A Hint of Sparkle

Dress: Victorias Secret (old)  Sweater: J.Crew  Belt: Target identical here  Tights: OldNavy  Shoes: Michelle D similar here  Jacket: Brooks Brothers similar here  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot  Rings: gifted

Yesterday was my last day in the office for 2013 so I wanted to make sure to end the year with a little sparkle.  I think that glittery belts are the perfect way to bring a little glam to any office setting while still keeping your look professional. Plus, they go with just about anything-- that's the great thing about metallics! The whole day was a great way to wrap up the past year as we had a catered lunch and a few meetings to end the year on a high note.

Summer Colors

Dress: Victoria's Secret (old)  Sweater: J.Crew  Shoes: Aldo similar here  Watch: Michael Kors Necklace: Stella and Dot  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Now that the weather is much warmer around here, incorporating more color into my daily outfits is something I am striving to do. I pulled out this old dress yesterday because it is one of the most comfortable dresses in my wardrobe. I knew it was a perfect dress to wear as we break into the hot and humid days quickly hitting the District. I have loved this dress since the day I spotted it years ago at Victoria's Secret. I wanted to pair it with bolder colors to stand out against the navy.

I think navy and teal is a color pairing I often forget about, but I adore how the two colors compliment each other so well. I guess I feel this way about many colors with navy. Perhaps it is quickly becoming a new favorite in my life? I'm not sure I can say I would choose it over black… but it may be a great summer substitute.

What are your favorite color combos these days?

Snakeskin and Neon

Jeans: Rock & Republic  Top: Victorias Secret  Clutch: The Limited Similar Style  Shoes: Aldo Similar Style  Necklace: Stella and Dot  Bracelet: Vintage  Ombre Nails: Essie Limo-Scene to Essie Mod Squad  Watch: Michael Kors

Snakeskin and neon: two of my favorite ways to dress up a simple pair of jeans and a white tee. Especially for an easy weekend outfit.
I wore this outfit this past Saturday for an enexpcted long day at the car dealership. I thought we were going to spend an hour discussing options and then leave to finish up some errands. Little did I know we would be leaving with a new Jetta! I am already so in love with this car:

Thrifted Blazer

Dress: Victoria's Secret Similar Style  Blazer: Thrifted Similar Style  Shoes: Zappos Similar Style  Watch: Michael Kors  Necklace: Stella and Dot  Bracelet: Stella and Dot

When it is really rainy out, like in the pictures above, I typically try to wear a bright color to stand out on such a gray day. Today, I decided to wear this yellow blazer I spotted at a thrift store a few weeks ago. I love finding amazing pieces at thrift stores because they can be really nice pieces of clothing and are usually pretty unique. I knew this blazer could go with so many outfits and was happy to snag it for only $6. What a deal! I love thifting!
Have you ever had an amazing thrift store find? If so, what was it?

Holiday Weekend

Dress: Victoria's Secret  Sweater: J.Crew  Shoes: Zappos  Necklace: Stella and Dot  Bangles: Stella and Dot

Are you getting excited for the long holiday weekend? I am. A few days full of fun, friends, the beach and the boyfriend. I can't wait! I woke up in such a good mood today in anticipation of the weekend. I grabbed my favorite sweater, threw it on over a dress, and ran out the door. The color is, by far, my favorite and it just added to my good mood.

I hope you have a great long weekend!
Do you have any fun plans?
