After a crazy, fun weekend, I am heading back to the skies today and flying home. I could not have asked for a better week in Houston but am so excited to sleep in my own bed tonight... as always happens after a long week of travel. Because I feel like I am in the air so much these days, I have come up with my go-to travel outfit: comfy jeans, flats, a baggy sweater, a scarf and a huge purse. All of these play a small role in spending the day in comfort while cooped up for hours on a plane.

I am a huge HUGE fan of flying with a scarf because I am always freezing on the airplane. I actually wore this outfit last week on my trip down to Houston and found myself using this scarf as a blanket. It is great for versatility and it's super lightweight. I am telling you, scarves are quickly becoming my favorite article of clothing.

Also, the other key piece in this outfit is a huge purse. I like to check my bag (thanks, Southwest! Love the free bags!) and carry just my purse through TSA and around the airport. The problem I have is I travel with my planner, my iPad and my computer. Plus I like to bring an (empty) water bottle and some snacks because airport food is just never appealing to me. Well, except overpriced Jamba Juice.

On Friday, I mentioned how I've started looking for different ways to incorporate red into my wardrobe. Well, I took the plunge since then and bought my first red piece: this scarf. While it's not 100% red, I kind of love it. It makes me want to pull out my puffy vests and boots and wear it all winter long. But the great news is that it's also really lightweight so it was easy to wear last weekend while it was still uber-hot. I mean, is this summer over yet? I realllllly want to wear layers.

Now that I have bought my first red piece, I guess I am on a roll. I ordered a dress and bought a shirt earlier this week. It turns out, the dress doesn't fit like I expected so I'll have to send it back, but the red shirt is super cute and this may be my new color obsession. Who knew red was so much fun to wear... yet also so hard to find? Hopefully stores stock up for the holidays soon so I can keep adding to my new collection.

Wine Walkin'

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending one of my favorite local events... the Reno wine walk. I mean, what is better than wandering downtown by the river, with friends, sipping on wine? Um, not much, right? I met up with some old friends from college and bar hopped while drinking from a cute floral wine glass. I knew it was the perfect occasion to pull this dress out of my closet. There is something about the wine walk that always makes me want to throw on a dress and this blue and white number was perfect for my Saturday afternoon.

Why a Romper Should be your Summer Go-To

Romper: ASOS similar here  Shoes: Sole Society  Bandeau: Forever 21  Sunglasses: Pac Sun  Necklace: Elaine B. Jewelry  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelet: Stella and Dot similar here

First of all, it's pretty obvious that my love affair with shorts has been all over the place this year (ahem, here and here and here) so it should come as no surprise that rompers (a dress + shorts) are just as high up on my list of "totally love". I actually bought this romper over the winter and kind of forgot about it until this week. When I first tried it on, I didn't love it but I kept it hanging in the back of my closet... and boy am I glad I did. Throwing it on over a colorful bandeau top was a simple way to stay cool and comfortable in this heat.

The only mistake I made was wearing this to travel. No one likes to remind you that when you wear a romper, running to the bathroom is never quick. Oops. I guess I learned my lesson!

This weekend I am pretty excited to hop back on a plane and spend the weekend at the beach in San Diego. Because the weather will be much cooler by the water (woo hoo!) I am already pulling out comfy sweatshirts and lots of layers to make sure I pack just the right stuff. This sweatshirt is no exception and I plan on wearing it over my bathing suit or to the beach at night. I see it getting a lot of use over the next few days. Plus, if it's cool enough during the day, it pairs easily with cute shorts like this striped pair from J.Crew.

How do you wear loungewear outside of the house?

Summer Style

Last summer I couldn't get enough of this denim vest and this year is looking to be no different. Denim vests are a great way to completely change the look of any outfit. This dress is actually strapless and a perfect beach coverup... but with the right vest, it transforms the look into something perfect for an afternoon BBQ or drinks with some friends. I actually put this outfit together last week for a friend's birthday and loved how simple the entire look was. Plus, it was great because it was so light and the weather was so hot. Sadly, it's cooled down a bit and the wind has been non-stop.

Have you picked up a denim vest yet?

As I mentioned on Instagram the other day, I finally found the heart-shaped sunglasses I have been looking for. I didn't realize how hard it was to find a pair with gold frames and darker lenses. Thanks to American Eagle, I finally have what I was looking for. Yay! They are the perfect accessory for this summer and I can't wait to wear them everywhere-- especially during all of my travels over the next few weeks.

Also, in case you missed my big announcement yesterday, I hope to see all you Reno folks at my event next Thursday! Check out the details here.

Some days you wake up and just want to be lazy. Today I was having the lazy problem when it came to my hair. It's been pretty hot lately and spending time using the hair dryer and curling iron just wasn't appealing. So, I decided to try out the "air dry" look. I usually hate my hair like this but for some reason it really worked well with this casual outfit. I am pretty sure I spent the whole day at home working so no one really saw my lazy hair but it's nice to know that my hair finally won't frizz up when air dried. Boy, I love living somewhere that has no humidity.
