Happy Wednesday!
With summer weather here and my last day at my job upon us, I wanted to wear something fun in celebration. I have been in love with this shirt since the day I purchased it. I bought it many years ago but I just love how bright the floral pattern is. It is the perfect summer shirt and I love how well it contrasts with the black skirt. Plus, this outfit is the perfect opportunity for me to show off my new Kate Spade flats. I am in love with them! They are so comfortable and go with everything. Definitely a great purchase! I see myself wearing them many places in the future.
Here's to the next step!

Lunch Date

Happy Tuesday! I am in a great mood today! The weather is perfect, I am leaving for vacation soon and I have a fun lunch date planned with a few people at work. Because my last day is coming up, we are heading out to a new pizza place today and I am so excited to try it. I love going to new places and am so excited for a midday break.
Plus, the weather has been great lately and I have been able to wear my newest purchase: my folding Wayfarer glasses. I have been eyeing wayfarers for a little over a year now and when I found these folding ones, I had to have them. They fold up into a small case and take up very little room in my purse. What could be better? Can't wait to take them up to Michigan with me!

Back to Work

After quite an exciting weekend, today I had to get ready to head back to work. Mondays are always tough after a fun weekend. This past weekend, two of my friends from college moved to DC and into our house. I am so excited to have friends from back home out here. Now, just a short week of work and then off to Michigan for a wedding!

Hope you have a great Monday!

Guest Post: Feminine and fun – the tie bow blouse

The name might sound old fashioned, but the style is bang up to date. High street stores and designer labels are selling a wide range of floaty, luscious tie bow blouses that let you strut your stuff in the office or just bring an element of vintage style to your weekends.
A tie bow blouse incorporates ties that enable you to create a bow at the neckline. The size of the bow is up to you, and with many blouses coming with very long ties, you can choose to make your blouse more formal by tying a large bow, or less obvious by just looping the ties over each other. Whatever you choose, you have the flexibility to work the bow to suit the occasion. These blouses tend to be made with sheerer fabric and delicate detail, so they are perfect for adding glamour to an office outfit or for wearing on an evening out.
Because they ooze vintage class, there are some very structured, formal ways to wear your tie bow blouse. Pairing it with well-tailored trousers or a high-waisted pencil skirt will give you a flattering silhouette and give you an instant elegance boost. Choose patent shoes with killer heels to complete the look. Remember that many of these blouses are made from fine fabric, so it’s worth investing in a silk camisole or vest to wear underneath if you want to protect your modesty.
On the other hand, you can lift a casual outfit by adding a well-chosen tie bow blouse. You don’t have to pay designer prices to get this look – these blouses are available on the high street and online, making it easy to choose and easy to shop. Team a sleeveless blouse with tailored shorts and boat shoes for a summer party, or wear over skinny jeans and add ballet flats and a tailored jacket to roam round town on a Saturday. Worn with confidence, these tops are real head-turners.
If you’ve never considered adding a tie bow blouse to your wardrobe, perhaps now is the time to try it out. With a range of styles and designs on the market, you could find just the right thing to jazz up your work outfits and to add some charm to your leisure time. And with affordable prices, great fabrics and plenty of ways to wear them, this could easily become one of your favourite pieces of clothing.

Humidity + Hair

Today is another hot and humid day here in DC. Because of all the moisture in the air, I decided to let my hair air dry. There is no point in styling it as it will look terrible five minutes after leaving the house anyway. I actually love leaving my hair wavy because it so easy and I love how summery it feels.
Hope everyone is staying out of the heat!
Do you have a go-to hairstyle to beat this humidity?

With humidity soaring and the heat index expected to be over 100 today, a skirt was a necessity this morning. I remembered this skirt tucked away in my closet and forgot how much I love it. I bought it after seeing Michelle Obama speak at the Capitol Visitor Center when I worked on Capitol Hill. She had a skirt just like this and I went on a mission to find one. I was so excited when I found this one at Ann Taylor. This skirt has so many memories-- I just love it!

All Grown Up

I feel very grown up today because I am now able to share with you that I have accepted a new position with a non-profit organization. I am quite excited about my new adventure! Because of this big step, I decided to dress up a little today. I can't get enough of simple dresses in the summer. Especially with all this humidity we have right now, a dress was the perfect outfit for today.

MAXImum Comfort

Some Mondays just call for a comfortable outfit. Today is one of those days. With rain falling outside and one of the cooler days in the forecast, I decided comfort was just what I needed. Nothing is more comfortable than a maxi dress (I am not even sure sweatpants compare!) so I knew exactly what to wear as soon as I got out of bed.
What is your go-to comfort outfit?
