Last week I decided to get all dressed up (and shower before 9am) and attend a luncheon hosted by the American Marketing Association. It was great to hear from other experts about social media and the influence it has on sales and marketing in today's world.  It's been awhile since I attended a local professionals meeting and it was fun running into old friends and hearing things that I can put to use at work. Not to mention, it gave me a great excuse to pull out the dress that I wore to the White House Summit a few months ago. I am always looking for reasons to dress up these days!

Yesterday was the first time I had an excuse to dress up during the work day since I started my new job. I was invited to join the local PRSA chapter for lunch and was so excited to throw on a dress and shower before noon. I know, embarrassing. I am so happy I was able to meet such wonderful people in the community and am already looking forward to the next event.

Summer Dress

I think a little bit of Friday's inspiration wore off on me today while picking out my outfit. I think after a weekend in the sun I just wasn't ready to give up the most summer-y color: watermelon.

I have loved this dress since the moment I laid eyes on it and knew it was the perfect color to balance out my new two-toned flats. They are quite neutral while the color of this dress stands out on its own. I love the way they truly balance each other out.

Oh, and I highly recommend you check out these flats if you are looking for some fun new leather flats for fall. They have multiple colors and are currently marked down from $98 to $29. And if you order before August 19th, use the code 2A02 for 15% off and free shipping.

Summer Dresses

One thing I've recently noticed that my closet is missing: summer dresses. While I have plenty of dresses taking up space, so many of them are thicker fabrics and they are all in darker colors. The past few weeks I have been keeping an eye out for great summer dresses to add to my collection.

When I bought this dress, I honestly tried to buy it in yellow. I adored the sunflower color and thought it was just the right amount of summer needed in my closet. Sadly, the dress had sold out in most sizes and the only ones left were far too big. Luckily, the salesperson ran over to me with this pink number and I was sold. The color was bright and cheerful-- exactly what I wanted!

Now... if only I could own this dress is about five other colors I would be all set.

DC Restaurant Week

Dress: from Current Boutique  Shoes: Via Spiga  Clutch: Michael Kors Similar Style  Cuff: The Limited

This past week was Restaurant Week in DC. I had the pleasure of dining out at Urbana and DC Coast. Each restaurant had its strong points (Urbana has great sangria!) but I would highly recommend that anyone visiting DC (or that lives here) check out DC Coast. It was one of the best meals ever! I ordered the clam chowder, crab cakes and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Each course was delicious
I wanted to wear something a little dressier to dinner on Friday night so I picked out this pink dress. I am in love with the color and wish I could wear it all the time.
I love getting dressed up and going out for a fancy dinner-- do you know of any great finds for DC Restaurant Week?
