After trying this shirt one with about 100 pairs of pants last week, I finally pulled out my freshly-hemmed (by yours truly) Citizens and opted for a laid-back date look. I originally envisioned this shirt with white shorts or my leather skirt, but decided that it's just as cute when dressed down with a comfy pair of jeans and sandals.

I originally spotted this top on the LOFT Instagram feed and thought it was just about the cutest shirt I had seen in years. Insta-marketing totally works. I found myself in the store later that day and walking out with this beauty in my bag.

Have you ever fallen in love with something on Instagram and bought it asap? Please say yes. I hope I'm not alone on this.

The past few days have been full of rain, bringing in cool temps that could not be more welcomed in this crazy heat we've been having. I decided that I would embrace this cool weather and pull out my favorite jeans for a comfy workday outfit. I have been all about shorts and skirts these days but I always forget how much I love my jeans until I put them on and spend a day working in them. These are seriously the best jeans I have ever owned... no wonder I own at least three pairs of the same kind. Whoops.

Fourth of July Prep

We are only a little over a week out from my favorite holiday of the year: Fourth of July. It's no secret that I've been stocking up on patriotic gear and this upcoming holiday will not be in short supply of red, white and blue. I am still trying to figure out my plans for the holiday weekend, but at least I know my wardrobe is ready to go. I plan on wearing my stars and stripes up to the beach and Tahoe and then making a plan to see fireworks.

Tonight is my event at Veritas, can't wait to see y'all there!

Snakeskin Scarf

Ever since I attended the Karen Millen fashion show at Tysons Galleria, I have been planning my first snakeskin purchase. At first, I had my eye on some snakeskin pants, but I haven't found a pair I had to have yet (nor have I really found an occassion to wear them.) On my mission to find some snakeskin apparel, I found a lot of articles of clothing that I would never wear. Only in the last few years have I started wearing animal prints. I used to hate them but lately they have really been growing on me. I still find it hard to pick out great animal print pieces as so many can look cheap. When I found this scarf at The Limited, I fell in love. It was exactly what I was looking for!
1. Snakeskin
2. Quality materials
3. A scarf
Well, I wasn't really looking for a scarf, but a girl can never have too many scarves in her closet!

Minty Fresh

After a long, long search for mint-colored jeans, I finally found exactly what I was looking for at Zara. I have recently discovered their jeans and fallen in love. (See here and here.) They are so comfortable and come in so many different colors. I have been waiting for them to carry the perfect shade of mint and I was so happy when I stumbled upon these.

Beth Harbison

Beth Harbison and me!

Last night I was so excited to win tickets from Guest of a Guest for an event going on in Georgetown. It was called Champagne and Chocolate. Obviously, who wouldn't want to win tickets? The event was taking place at BCBG and was supposed to have endless champagne, a book signing with Beth Harbison, gift bags worth over $175, a premiere of the new Fall line and free appetizers! I was so excited I brought my friend Nicole and looked forward to an amazing evening.

Boy was I wrong.

BCBG didn't order the books in time so there were no books for the signing (embarassing!), there were 5 bottles of champagne, a plate of cheese and crackers, no gift bags and a lot of unhappy customers. Oh, and no new "Fall line". The entire event was a bust. Nicole and I were rather disappointed but made the best of it. We ended up just wandering around Georgetown and shopping. Yay!

Then, this morning, I woke up to an email from Guest of a Guest apologizing for the event. They were under the impression it would be much better and thanked me for not being upset. Sophie, from Guest of a Guest, was awesome and I was so happy to receive her email. Although the event was kind of a bust, at least we had fun and I know there are people out there who still have great manners/ customer service/ whatever you want to call it.
