I have been in love with this sweatshirt since I ordered it at the beginning of this year, but sadly, I have only pulled it out of the closet a couple of times. The last time I wore it (Night in the Country) I came home and washed it and it was covered in those ugly little sweater balls that appear after wearing something too many times-- and it was probably only the second time I washed it. Not. Happy.

I called my mom after letting it sit around for months and asked her to help me fix it. Did you know those little sweater balls come off easily with a disposable razor and a lint roller? What would I do without mom's little secrets? I now plan on wearing this sweatshirt on the reg.

Last weekend, my stepmom and I were asked to help out a family friend who was looking to update her wardrobe. We decided to meet up on Sunday for shopping and a late lunch. When my stepmom came to my door to pick me up, we realized we were in almost matching outfits: white shirts with khaki shorts. I mean, I knew these were classic colors but I never really thought about this same outfit in 30ish years (or on someone about 30 years older than me). Knowing how classic this look is just made me realize how often I wear simple, classic colors and just add jewelry to dress them up. Nothing beats a timeless look!

Even though I shared my excitement for fall in yesterday's blog post, I am still hanging on to the last few weeks of summer, not to mention it is still in the nineties here. As much as I want to throw on sweaters and scarves, I just can't. Sweat would be wayyy to much of an issue, ha. So, instead, I decided to pull out my fave neon shorts that I never wear enough of and try to get a last wear of the season out of them. I forgot why neon is so great-- you look tan even when you're not.
Faaaabulous.

Last week I decided to get all dressed up (and shower before 9am) and attend a luncheon hosted by the American Marketing Association. It was great to hear from other experts about social media and the influence it has on sales and marketing in today's world.  It's been awhile since I attended a local professionals meeting and it was fun running into old friends and hearing things that I can put to use at work. Not to mention, it gave me a great excuse to pull out the dress that I wore to the White House Summit a few months ago. I am always looking for reasons to dress up these days!

The past few days have been full of rain, bringing in cool temps that could not be more welcomed in this crazy heat we've been having. I decided that I would embrace this cool weather and pull out my favorite jeans for a comfy workday outfit. I have been all about shorts and skirts these days but I always forget how much I love my jeans until I put them on and spend a day working in them. These are seriously the best jeans I have ever owned... no wonder I own at least three pairs of the same kind. Whoops.

A few weeks ago, while prepping for my two weeks of travel including trip back to Washington, DC, I decided that my dress wardrobe needed a little updating. I hit up one of my favorite stores (I'm lookin' at you Banana Republic!) and decided that just one dress wouldn't do for the White House event. So, three dresses later, I walked out of the store, but not before falling in love with each employee there.

My mom and I went to the store just before closing and figured the employees might be annoyed that we came in as they were cleaning up. Wrong. They couldn't have been more helpful and fun. Honestly, I wanted to invite them out for drinks after but I knew I had an early morning the next day.

So, Banana Republic, thanks for always being there for me. I never leave your store unhappy and think that the team in Reno deserves an extra special shoutout today!

One color combo that I find I rarely wear is black and yellow and I after this outfit I put together the other day, I am not quite sure why I avoid it. I have loved this top since the day I spotted it at the pop-up event in DC and I totally forgot about it ever since I died my hair blonde again. I always get scared to wear yellow with blonde hair, but every time I do, I immediately fall back in love with the color. Plus, pairing it with black shorts and cute wedges is a perfect look for an evening out for drinks with friends... especially on a patio to enjoy all this nice weather.

What a weekend! I had quite an action-packed weekend and it looks like this week is going to be nothing short of busy either. Friday night started off with a reunion over dinner with some of my sorority sisters who were in town. It was so fun catching up over some beers and delicious food. We ended up making our way downtown over the course of the evening, only to run into more friends that were visiting. Nothing beats catching up with old amigas!

Saturday was spent helping my mom update her wardrobe before running off to a friend's graduation party wearing this dress. We sipped on sangria while watching the Belmont Stakes and then I was off to my dad's to celebrate his birthday. (Today is his actual birthday, Happy Birthday Dad!) We had a great dinner, minus the rain, and spent the evening chatting outside and catching up. I finished off the night with some fancy cocktails with friends at a new bar near my house.

Sunday was my favorite day of the weekend because my BFF from high school was in town and we went to breakfast. It's been years (okay two) since we last saw each other and it was so much fun to see her. I then spent the day running errands with another great friend before winding up at the pool. After spending the day with some of my favorites, I was then talked into buying a flight and heading to my sorority convention in Las Vegas in just a few days. I seriously cannot wait to see everybody when I arrive. This now makes four trips in the month of June. Yay!

Hope your weekend was just as fabulous!
