Well, it officially feels like Summer here in DC. It is hot and humid and full of sunshine. I think it's just about time to pack up my pants and live in skirts and dresses for the next few months. While getting ready this morning, I came across a skirt I haven't worn in awhile and decided it was time to pull it out of my closet. I don't dress up nearly as much as I used to so I thought it would be fun to wear. Plus, it is gray and I can't get enough of gray and yellow together.

Memorial Day in Michigan

I am finally back at a computer and able to post some photos from this past weekend. We went up to a small town in Northern Michigan where we had no computers and no phone service. It was so nice to get away for a few days. We spent time boating on the lake, sitting around the campfire and relaxing in the hammock. It was a perfect holiday weekend and I cannot wait to go back. Travel Day

Saturday was a travel day I think it is so important to be comfortable while traveling, especially when you are flying AND driving. With temperatures rising over the weekend, I knew I had to wear shorts. I paired them with this chambray shirt from Banana Republic because I love the look of blue with blue. The contrasting belt matched the shoes and became one of my favorite looks. Blue and gold are classic and it was the perfect outfit to wear when flying into Michigan.

Nothing is better for a Memorial Day weekend at the lake than a Maxi dress. They are so comfortable and versatile. I love pairing mine with some wedges and spending the evening by the water.

Holiday Weekend

Are you getting excited for the long holiday weekend? I am. A few days full of fun, friends, the beach and the boyfriend. I can't wait! I woke up in such a good mood today in anticipation of the weekend. I grabbed my favorite sweater, threw it on over a dress, and ran out the door. The color is, by far, my favorite and it just added to my good mood.

All-American Jean Jacket

With Memorial Day around the corner, I wanted to wear something "All-American" today. I decided to pull out my jean jacket, one of the best staple items in my closet. I haven't worn this jacket since last summer and I forgot how much I love it. It goes so well with feminine fabric like this eyelet skirt and it also looks great with floral print. It can be a great addition to almost any outfit. I am so glad I re-discovered it.

Creating variety from clothes I already own is one of my favorite things to do. They are so many ways to wear different pieces.  Today I decided to switch things up with this dress. It is actually a strapless beach cover-up that I picked up on sale at Target. I decided to pair it with a tank top and belt to dress it up a little for the workplace. Adding a sweater and wedges made it great for this hot and humid day in the city.

My new Stella and Dot necklace arrived in the mail yesterday and is even prettier than I remember it. I have been looking at it for a few months now and I finally placed the order. It is beautiful and goes with everything. I love the look of statement necklaces with blazers.

With beautiful weather all weekend, waking up to rain this morning was a real bummer. I decided I needed to wear something bright in order to cheer up after looking out the window. I love how bright this cardigan is and it looks great with the contrasting stripes. The yellow is so bold and bright- it instantly adds some color to this very gray day.

The Legwamers

Last night, a few friends and I went to see The Legwarmers at the State Theater. The Legwarmers are an 80s tribute band that play in the area every few months. The shows typically sell out well in advance so we bought our tickets months ago. We had a great time singing and dancing to 80s pop songs all night.
