Last weekend's weather was exactly what I've been waiting for: cold, rainy, and cloudy. As soon as I woke up to a cool wind coming through my windows I knew exactly what I wanted to wear: fleece-lined tights. I remember living in them last winter but forgot how amazingly comfortable these bad boys were until I put them on with my favorite boots. Now that I am familiar with how great they are again, they are obvi going to become a staple in my wardrobe. Sorry I'm not sorry I plan on living in tights this winter.

With Labor Day just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about transitioning to fall clothing (yay!) and starting to put the summer clothes back in the closet until next year. One of my favorite pieces of clothing for the cooler months is my J.Crew leather jacket so it should come as no surprise that it's the first thing I am pulling out this year. It is such a great staple for transitioning as it is great for layering and warmth during those cooler nights. A leather jacket and a light scarf scream fall to me and I can't wait to keep wearing this combo as we head into September and October.

Shorts Story

I've never really been a huge fan of shorts.... until now. I've always been the girl that prefers dresses and skirts (especially while living on the humid east coast) but lately, I have been turning to shorts more and more. I was out of town a few weeks ago and had some extra time to kill and found myself at a pretty cute outdoor outlet mall. I wandered around in the sunshine and bought most of my summer wardrobe. I fell in love with these printed shorts at the J.Crew Factory store and walked out with these and three other pairs. Oops. It's safe to say I will be spending a lot of my summer in shorts. But hey, they count as work clothes now, right?

Summer Nails

One of my favorite things about summer is all of the bright nail polish that you can finally pull out. Whether you are staying in town or heading out of town for a weekend getaway, all things are better with fun nail polish. Some of my current favorites are bright yellow and bright blue. I can't seem to get enough and am always wearing some shade of the two. Although, right now I have been wearing a lot of my favorite Essie summer shade, Mod Squad. I think that bottom Deborah Lippmann color may be next on my list though!

Have a great weekend and make sure you enter my giveaway-- today is the last day!

Working from Home + Giveaway

Top: J.Crew  Pants: Target  Glasses: c/o Firmoo  Mug: West Elm love this one  Rings: gifted and Nordstrom  Nail Polish: Essie Play Date

As I've mentioned before, I am now one of those people who work from home. I am really starting to embrace my new schedule and love days when I can sit around in yoga pants and my glasses. I wear my contacts most days but sometimes it is so nice to throw on my glasses and not have to worry.

I only started wearing glasses/ contacts a few years ago but I feel like my eyes have continued to decline since the day I realized I couldn't read the bottom of the tv. More recently, I have been looking for a new pair of glasses to match my newest prescription as my old glasses are still living in the days of my last prescription and things are a little blurry when I wear them.

Enter: these new glasses from Firmoo. I have talked about Firmoo on the blog before but this pair is, like, a million times better than the last. I am not sure if they changed their products or what, but wearing these glasses is heaven. They are cute, light and the PERFECT prescription. It is so nice to finally be able to see again!

Well, I have teamed up with Firmoo to give five lucky Style for the Seasons readers a $30 off voucher towards a pair of prescription (or non-prescription) glasses. This almost covers the price of a new pair of glasses! (Seriously, check out these prices!) What a deal! Just use the Rafflecopter tool below to enter. Oh, and this giveaway is only open to those living in the United States.

Spring Pink

Happy first day of spring! After this winter I couldn't be happier about the change in seasons. While it has still been extremely cold, we are looking at a high in the 70s this weekend. I. Can't. Wait.

To me, pink is the ultimate spring color. Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and pink is everywhere. I wanted to welcome spring in the best way I know how: wearing lots of pink. Nails, shirts, etc. I plan on making this color much more a part of my outfits. I think wearing such a bright color is an instant way to cheer up... especially with all the gloomy weather we've had lately.

Is It Spring Yet?

With all of this ridiculously cold weather we've had in DC lately, I have been dreaming of warmer days and vacations to the beach. Not gonna lie, I even looked up weekend flights to Florida last Friday just to try and get out of this weather for a few days. Sadly, the flights were all out of my price range but some of these fun Spring clothes aren't. I actually ordered my first romper similar to the one above while daydreaming of spring brunches and days that don't involve heavy coats and lots of layers.

So often, when people chat with me about my blog, I get asked a lot of the same questions. I decided to post some of the more frequent ones today:

1. Do you wear heels every day?
Surprisingly, this is the most common question people ask me. The short answer is no.  While I love wearing heels and tend to wear them to work 3-5 days per week, I am definitely a fan of flat shoes. I actually own many more pairs of flats and sandals than I do heels. On the weekends, you can find me in boots in the colder months and sandals in the summer. I actually think sandals are my favorite type of footwear but I just can't pull them off in these cold months.

2. Who takes your pictures?
This is a question that also comes up almost every time someone asks about my blog. Many people used to think that Brad took my photos, but I think we only tried that once or twice-- I would end up getting mad or I wouldn't like the angles, I don't know, it just never worked out. I actually take 100% of my own photos. I used to be kind of embarassed about this but it has actually taught me a lot about photography (and how to use a DSLR and Photoshop) but I think that it also has taught me humility. It's kind of crazy to introduce yourself to someone and then somehow mention later in the conversation that you take photos of yourself every day... yeah, that doesn't sound self-absorbed. Luckily, I have gotten over that and really have embraced the art that is self photography. And let me tell you, it is not nearly as easy as it looks.

3. Do you shop more because you have a fashion/ style blog?
I think the reason that I shop more these days is because I READ more fashion and style blogs. I routinely find myself falling in love with things that other bloggers have written about and make it my mission to acquire some of these products. A few things that I discovered on blogs: this coat, this scarf and this top.

4. Do you dress up more because you have a blog?
Honestly, no. I am the type of girl who is most comfortable in a pair of skinny jeans and a sweatshirt (like the photos above) but also feels really girly and pretty in fancy dresses and skirts. Most often, on the weekends, you can find me in very casual attire but I really enjoy dressing up for work Monday- Friday. Sure, there are days that I really want to throw on a pair of jeans for work, but that typically ends up inspiring some creative ideas in hopes of looking work appropriate, yet still very comfortable.

5. Can I be on your blog?
This is, by far, one of my favorite questions that people ask and it's pretty crazy how often people say this to me. Of course! I am always happy to host guest bloggers on here and would love to see what creative ideas you come up with. If you have something in mind, email me! I love hearing from you.

Leather and (Faux) Fur

Top: J.Crew  Skirt: Kensie similar here  Tights: Target  Shoes: Nine West  Jacket: J.Crew similar here  Scarf: gifted similar here  Bracelets: Alex and Ani here and here and Stella and Dot here and here  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Nail Polish: Essie A Cut Above

Leather: I love it. Faux leather: I love it. Faux fur: well, I love it too.

Putting this outfit together could not have been more fun. The faux leather on the skirt mixed with the real leather of the jacket was a fun & unexpected combo that I instantly fell for. Plus, the addition of this old scarf was a great way to totally change the look of this jacket and an some extra warmth during the polar vortex.

I'd never really thought about how this simple faux fur scarf can add so much to an outfit and I am so glad I rediscovered it while I was home for the holidays. It's going to be a new staple in my wardrobe for the next few (freezing) weeks.
