Yesterday gave us a nice break in the cool temperatures so I took the opportunity to wear a skirt without tights one last time this season. I am really going to miss bare legs over the next few months. At least there will be plenty of time for patterned tights and boots... my staple over these colder months.

Back in Black

Yesterday was my first day back in the office after spending a week on the West Coast. I think I was subconsciously bummed about heading back to work as I found myself wearing nothing but black. Who knew I really wasn't ready to end my vacation?

One thing that made heading back to work much easier was the fact that I was carrying my new Phillip Lim for Target bag. I know I have been talking about this collection a lot lately, but I am obsessed. I love this huge bag more than I imagined I would. I want to take it everywhere and show it to everyone. It is just perfect.

For months now I have been looking to find a solid black crop top with no sleeves. Believe me when I tell you this is much harder to find than it sounds.  I searched online, in stores and even found a few I liked but was scared off by a price tag nearing $100. When I found this hanging on the rack at Nordstrom this past week, I couldn't have been more thrilled. It was the last one in black and it just so happened to be my size. I didn't even try it on. I ran up to the register to make sure no one could take this top away from me.

I have been dying to find one just to pair with this skirt (although I came up with about ten other things to wear with it while walking out of the store). I wanted a fun way to switch up the look of this skirt and this top is perfect. I plan on repeating this outfit in a few weeks when Brad and I have wedding after wedding to attend.

Black and White and Mint

It's no secret that I adore black and white outfits. Something about the simple colors strikes a chord with me. I wanted to keep today's outfit very simple when wearing my new cuff from Color by Amber. I received it weeks ago and had trouble finding just the right look to pair with it. Because I didn't want the cuff to compete for attention, I chose an old standby: black and white. I think it really makes the cuff stand out and you can focus on the detail, rather than the rest of the outfit. 

I am a big fan of letting accessories do the talking, which is why I pulled out one of my favorite clutches. I snagged this mint number last summer from Gigee Marie and think it does not get nearly enough screen time on the blog. It is fabulously made and I love taking it out for the night or running some errands around town. If you have never seen one of these bags, I definitely suggest checking them out. You won't regret your purchase. 

Eiffel Tower

A couple of months ago, I posted about wanting an Eiffel Tower shirt to add to my collection. I'm not sure what it is about black and white (plus the Eiffel Tower apparel) that I am so fascinated with, but I think it is because this look is so timeless. I mentioned in my post that I would love to wear the shirt with skinny jeans and heels, so I dressed it up a little more with black pants for work. The bright clutch was a simple way to stand out in the snow yesterday. 

I don't know about you, but I can't WAIT for warm weather. 

Looking for Advice

Truth: I don't like any pictures I took of this outfit. 

I considered posting more photos of this look, but when looking through the photos that I took, none of them were very good. The lighting was terrible and you can't see the great mint color of this sweater. I fell in love with the sweater based on the color and I am bummed I don't have any photos that really let the color show.

On that note, I am in the market for a new DSLR. I have had mine for about a year now and am considering switching to something with more flexibility on the lens front. Everything I have tried to purchase to make me like this camera more seems to not be compatible. 

So, I turn to you, blogging world, what camera do you suggest? 

Long Weekend

With a long weekend ahead, I opted for a comfortable look today. Boyfriends jeans, a cozy sweater and my glasses. With four days off of work, comfort on my last day in the office was number one on my list. 

I hope you have a fabulous long weekend! I am going to do my best to stay out of the inauguration crowds and hope we don't get hit with snow.

Always Read the Tag

I bought this shirt about a month ago and have been waiting for the weather to warm up before wearing it so I could wear it without a sweater. With warmer weather hitting the District this week, I decided it was the perfect time to debut this top. While getting ready for work, I noticed how many wrinkles were in my shirt, so I plugged in my iron to press out the wrinkles before I ran out the door. Important lesson: read the tag before ironing. Turns out, this shirt is only supposed to be used with a "cool" iron and a hot iron will definitely burn a hole in the shirt. Luckily… the hole is at the bottom and you can't tell when it's tucked in. But I definitely learned my lesson: Always read the tag! Whoops!

Pink and Black

Hot pink is one of my new favorite colors to pair with black. Last week, I wore a black and pink dress to work and I think it inspired today's outfit. I love the way this bright color pops next to black. It definitely adds some fun to a work day.
