Trying to define DC style can be impossible at times. DC is commonly known for lots of black (think suits, umbrellas, dress pants) and is also known for terribly-dressed tourists. I'm lookin' at you, Mr. Fanny Pack. Anywho, one of the things I do love about DC's unique style is that many people don't know what a thriving fashion scene we have here. I put together one of my favorite fall looks above: tribal sweater, faux leather leggings, a fun hat, etc., but I really want to mention some of the great fashion resources available to us here in the DC metro area.
And if I miss something, pleaaaase let me know in the comments.

Long Weekend

Top: Gap Similar Style  Jeans: Gap  Shoes: Via Spiga  Ring: Stella and Dot  Necklace: Stella and Dot  Glasses: ℅ Firmoo

With a long weekend ahead, I opted for a comfortable look today. Boyfriends jeans, a cozy sweater and my glasses. With four days off of work, comfort on my last day in the office was number one on my list.
I hope you have a fabulous long weekend! I am going to do my best to stay out of the inauguration crowds and hope we don't get hit with snow.

New Year, New Ideas

With 2013 officially here, I think it is a perfect time to get some feedback from my readers about what appeals to you most regarding my blog. What can I do to improve it? How can I change it? Is there anything you'd like to see more?

I love hearing from you and would really appreciate it if you would take my quick survey and let me know what you think.

Tying A Scarf

As you may have noticed, I've recently been obsessed with scarves (see here and here). I think they are the ultimate accessory and can go with just about any outfit. I have scarves for just about any occasion and this is the perfect time of year to pull them out.
With infinity scarves such a hit right now, I have figured out a way to wear scarves in a way that makes them look like infinity scarves. By tying the ends together, you can wrap the scarf so that it hides the knot, yet still looks as though the scarf does not end. I think it such a fabulous way to pull an outfit together.
What is your favorite way to wear a scarf?

Which Watch?

After months of loving my Michael Kors watch, I am considering adding another watch to my collection. I love each of the above watches for different reasons and just can't make a decision.
The first watch is gold (like the one I own) but I just can't get over the face of it. It contrasts with the gold so well and just looks stunning.
The second watch is a mix of gold and silver which is something I need to wear with all of my silver jewelry. It would match just about everything which is a major selling feature to me.
The last watch is a little different but maybe that is what I need in a new watch: something new. A dark band with diamonds around the face.
There are just so many great watches out there these days. Which watch is your favorite?

Boots With The Fur

When I woke up for work yesterday, I looked outside to see a rainy, muggy mess. Because I knew that sweatpants and a movie day weren't an option for a Monday, I decided to wear something I could count on for coziness: furry boots.
I bought these boots a few months ago and was unsure of what to wear them with. After debuting them on Halloween, I was worried they were strictly for costumes. I challenged myself to wear them with something work appropriate and styled them for the office.
What do you think? Would you wear furry boots to work?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Before the rush of Black Friday sales begins, I wanted to post some of the pieces I am hoping to wear this holiday season. With my birthday, holiday parties and Christmas quickly approaching, I want to be sure I have just the right pieces in my closet for each of the upcoming events.
Here are some of the pieces I am eyeing:

I hope you have a fabulous day enjoying turkey with your family!

7 Days Until Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving only a week away, I have started thinking about what to wear for turkey day. Thanksgiving at my house is usually very casual: jeans, t-shirts, etc. With graphic sweaters everywhere these days, I finally found one I love, and that I would love to wear for the big feast. I think that pairing it with black jeans and studded boots would complete my look perfectly. Plus, I threw in the iPad case because I have it in brown and hate leaving home without it. (It is seriously the cutest case ever!)

What are you planning to wear for Thanksgiving? Does your family dress up?

Boots and Buns

With the cold, crummy weather officially here, I have decided I prefer wearing my hair up when the weather gets worse. It really should be the opposite, as my hair keeps me warmer, but I have really fallen in love with wearing my hair up (as seen here and here). I feel like I used to be so creative with my hair and lately it is either all up or all down.
Do you have a go-to hair style?

Wednesday Brights

After a long night of watching election coverage, today is going to call for a large cup of coffee! What did you think of the coverage? Of the results?
After wearing these pants and this sweater with different outfits, I decided to pair them together for a brighter look. I have loved this sweater since the day I bought it, but I always tend to wear it with other dark colors. I think the bright yellow pants are a great way to offset the dark blue of the sweater. I love the way this came together and I think this pants are a great transition into fall.
What do you think of colored jeans? Do you still wear them in the cooler months?

Election Day 2012

Happy Election Day!
I hope everyone has had a chance to vote, if not, GO VOTE! I sent in my ballot a few weeks ago and could not be more excited. I love voting, I just hate political ads. I am so glad they will be off the tv starting tomorrow.
No matter who you vote for, make sure you make your voice heard today!
