A Little Mustard, Please

Top: Target  Skirt: L'Amour Nanette Lepore  Tights: Betsey Johnson  Boots: Bandolino  Necklace: Banana Republic similar here  Coat: Target  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Bracelets: Stella and Dot  Bag: Phillip Lim for Target

This week seems to be full of colorful posts and I'm not hating it. Yesterday, red pants. Today, a yellow coat. I am loving these bright colors lately. I first saw this coat on Lacey last week and thought it would look fabulous in my closet. When I went to order it online, I was bummed to see that it was sold out in this mustard color. I gave up and decided I didn't need another coat in my life. Well, it must be fate because I was walking around Target on Saturday and there it was, hanging all alone, one left on the rack, in my size. I quickly tried it on and didn't second guess my decision for a moment. I ran to the register and immediately left the store with this mustard masterpiece.

I have been seeing colorful coats popping up here and there and knew that I needed one in my life-- I just had to find one that fit the bill. This one is perfect for satisfying my craving as it is bright, furry, has great toggle-fasteners. Oh, and I snagged it for only $35. I mean, if I decide I hate in a few months, no problem. It was a great buy and I am so excited to pair this with just about everything over the next few weeks while I am home for the holidays.

Favorite Sweater

Some mornings I wake up and want to be comfortable and in some of my favorite clothes. Yesterday was definitely one of those days. I'm not sure it if was because I was tired or I knew how busy the day would be, but all I was sure of was that I wanted a warm, cozy sweater to get me through the cool Spring day. I grabbed this old sweater from the Gap as it is one of the softest sweaters I have ever owned. It is probably 4+ years old but I still love it to this day. It is soft, striped and shows almost no wear. What more could you want in a sweater? I wish I bought this sweater in multiple colors because it has definitely become a wardrobe staple over the last few years.

A few weeks ago, I shared this outfit that I received from Ronen Chen. I was so impressed with how comfortable that outfit was, I am not sure why it took me so long to put this dress on. When I first got the dress, I thought the length was a little long for my body, so I grabbed my trusty sewing machine and shortened it by a few inches. I am now in love with this dress. It is so comfortable and the cut is really flattering. I am so happy I decided to take the bottom up! I plan on wearing this dress a lot more in the future. It is a great piece to throw on with tights and boots or maybe even some cute sandals in the spring.

Bubbles and Stripes

As you may have noticed here and here, my bubble necklace is one of my favorite jewelry pieces these days. Pairing it with stripes was a fun way to mix it up in the office before I left.

Patterned or Plain?

As I've mentioned before, patterned tights are something I am trying to wear more often. They are so fun and can bring so much excitement to an outfit. I think they compliment my new dress perfectly. They add some extra texture to a pretty simple winter white dress. I fell in love with this dress this past weekend at a cute thrift store in Old Town Alexandria

Boots and Buns

With the cold, crummy weather officially here, I have decided I prefer wearing my hair up when the weather gets worse. It really should be the opposite, as my hair keeps me warmer, but I have really fallen in love with wearing my hair up (as seen here and here). I feel like I used to be so creative with my hair and lately it is either all up or all down.

Patterned Tights

For a few years now, I have owned a couple pairs of patterned tights, yet I have been too afraid to wear them… with anything. This past week, I stepped out of my comfort zone and wore some patterned tights with a patterned top. I have been trying to mix patterns lately so this was my latest attempt. I think that the pattern on the tights is pretty subtle and doesn't compete with my busy top. I kind of threw this outfit on as I ran out the door on (a rainy!) Friday and I ended up liking it much more than I imagined.
What are your thoughts on patterned tights? What do you typically wear them with?

Tie Dye Dress + Boots

With the colder weather officially setting in, I decided it was time to break out the tights and boots. I love tights with boots and have been wanting to pair them with this dress since I purchased it this past summer. I think the colors are perfect for fall and I love how the boots look with the dress. I have a new pair of black boots coming in the mail and I can't wait to try them out with all of my dresses. Boot weather is the best!
