Bright and Cheerful

Top: Old Navy similar here  Skirt: Mossimo  Shoes: Guess  Bracelet: Stella and Dot old  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Lately I have kind of been in a funk. It is really hard to explain and I don't want to get into too many details on the blog, but things have been more than stressful lately. Because I wanted to try and put some of those thoughts out of my mind, I really wanted a bright and cheery outfit yesterday when I got out of bed. I decided this new yellow skirt (that I snagged for $6) would be a great way to add some flair into my outfit.

Besides just a brightly colored skirt, I knew I had to throw on one of my favorite patterns: polka dots. It is almost impossible to be sad while wearing polka dots so I knew this outfit was just what I needed to get through a long day. This bright outfit plus some flowers from the bf were a perfect way to start the day.

What do you wear to cheer yourself up?

White Denim

One of the great things about white denim is its ability to seamlessly transition from day to night. I threw on this outfit the other night and thought how easy it would be to wear to work (on a Friday) and then out for the evening. White jeans are one of my favorite summer staples and am so excited to be able to wear them more often, now that the weather is warmer. While I am a huge fan of my black skinnies, there is something about white that I can't get enough of.

Floral Pants

When I spotted these pants during the Nordstrom Rack pre-opening party on Tuesday, I knew I had to try them on. I have been looking for a fun pair of floral pants for a few weeks now and these bright pair screamed my name while wandering around the store. While in the dressing room, I wasn't sure about them as I've never worn any pants this loud. I decided to take them home and think them over and figured I could always return them if I hated them.
Well, I know one thing, I will NOT be returning these pants. They are as comfortable as pajama pants and I think they are so fun, especially for work. They are definitely outside of my comfort zone but I am so glad I took a risk on this fun pair of pants.
Do you have any crazy pants that you can't get enough of?

Neon Accent

One of my favorite things about warmer weather is the neon accents that tend to come out--especially around spring break time. This year is no exception. I love adding touches of neon to simple outfits as a bit of a statement. This clutch goes with everything and the neon really adds a lot to the outfit. It was such a great deal at Target for only $24 so I just couldn't pass it up.
What are some of your favorite things about warmer weather?

Still Winter?

With spring on my mind lately, I was so bummed to wake up to another day of freezing temperatures here in DC. I decided it was a great time to wear my latest sewing creation: my new flannel scarf. I never thought about making scarves in such soft material but I am so glad I did. It was like having a mini blanket on all day. Plus, the yellow in the scarf made it easier to stay cheerful throughout the gloomy cold morning.

Black and White

One of my favorite trends right now is black and white. I love basic colors (as you probably noticed here and here) and think that a simple black and white combo can easily be dressy or casual. I wore this simple outfit for a day full of meetings and love the way my Lilly bangle stands out against the simple black and white dots.
Do you like the black and white look or do you prefer more color?

Boston Bound

Top: Mossimo  Vest/ Belt: Custom-made by Anya Egoshina Similar Style  Jeans: JOE'S  Boots: Alfani

As I head to Boston today for a long weekend of fun, I decided to pull out my fur vest in preparation of the cold weather up North. I have been looking forward to this trip for weeks, but the cold weather is definitely something I am not prepared for. As cold as it has been here for the past few days, I am still not sure I am ready to battle the cold in Boston.

Classic Look

Top: Banana Republic Similar Style  Sweater: Mossimo  Pants: Banana Republic  Shoes: Nine West  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

When I think of a classic look, I tend to think of a button-down shirt, khaki (or light-colored pants) and a sweater. I am not sure why that is the first thing to pop into my mind, but it is a look that I think can be worn in any work environment and always look put together. While I am still upset about this terribly cold weather (as you can see in my last photo), throwing on a classic outfit is something that always turns the day around.
