I think I bought this baseball sweater at least twelve months ago and this is the first time I have actually pulled it out of my closet. I have always been a huuuge fan of baseball tees but for some reason, I hate the way they look on me. I am not sure if it's the angles or the colors or what-- but I always love them so much more on other people.

Well, this sweater was also not really what I expected when it arrived in the mail, but I kind of love it for the summer. I think I always envisioned it as more of a fall piece, but now that I have paired it with shorts and sandals, I am kinda loving the way it all comes together. Perhaps I should have pulled this out of my closet at the beginning of summer and gotten a few more wears out of it.

Home Sweet Home

Last week a cold front moved through and I spent the day working on the couch, freezing under a blanket. I pulled out my favorite go-to J.Crew sweater for an extra layer but still found myself reaching for the blanket while back in the house.

Today marks one full week of travel so far. I've been on the road to Vegas and Washington, DC and these trips have been nothing short of amazing. I am anxiously awaiting sleeping in my own bed tonight even though I will be arriving very late. It's going to be great to sleep there for a few nights before hitting the road again.

Don't forget, tomorrow is my event at Veritas and I would love to see your faces there!

Dressin' Up

What a weekend! I had quite an action-packed weekend and it looks like this week is going to be nothing short of busy either. Friday night started off with a reunion over dinner with some of my sorority sisters who were in town. It was so fun catching up over some beers and delicious food. We ended up making our way downtown over the course of the evening, only to run into more friends that were visiting. Nothing beats catching up with old amigas!

Saturday was spent helping my mom update her wardrobe before running off to a friend's graduation party wearing this dress. We sipped on sangria while watching the Belmont Stakes and then I was off to my dad's to celebrate his birthday. (Today is his actual birthday, Happy Birthday Dad!) We had a great dinner, minus the rain, and spent the evening chatting outside and catching up. I finished off the night with some fancy cocktails with friends at a new bar near my house.

Sunday was my favorite day of the weekend because my BFF from high school was in town and we went to breakfast. It's been years (okay two) since we last saw each other and it was so much fun to see her. I then spent the day running errands with another great friend before winding up at the pool. After spending the day with some of my favorites, I was then talked into buying a flight and heading to my sorority convention in Las Vegas in just a few days. I seriously cannot wait to see everybody when I arrive. This now makes four trips in the month of June. Yay!

Hope your weekend was just as fabulous!

Some days you wake up and just want to be lazy. Today I was having the lazy problem when it came to my hair. It's been pretty hot lately and spending time using the hair dryer and curling iron just wasn't appealing. So, I decided to try out the "air dry" look. I usually hate my hair like this but for some reason it really worked well with this casual outfit. I am pretty sure I spent the whole day at home working so no one really saw my lazy hair but it's nice to know that my hair finally won't frizz up when air dried. Boy, I love living somewhere that has no humidity.

Takin' My Work Outside

It's no secret that I am loving working from home these days but every once and awhile it's nice to get out and work among other people. I have been frequenting a cute little coffee shop down the street and this week is finally warming up so I don't have to always sit inside. It's so nice to work from anywhere and people watch at the same time.

Also, how cute is that heart necklace? I have been into delicate jewelry lately and am loving this gold/ silver combo. Stay tuned later this week for an awesome giveaway from my friends over at Mall of Style!

Fall Transitional Pieces

fall

Necklace/ Sweater/ Boots/ Jeans/ Skirt/ Bag

Now that Labor Day has come and gone, my brain is slowly accepting that summer is ending and fall is upon us. The cooler mornings this past week really helped me realize that it is just about time for scarves and boots. While I am really excited about the cooler weather this year (yep, the humidity has made me less of a fan of summer) I am still not ready to fully give up on my summer wardrobe.
The key to wearing summer pieces into the cooler months is all about transitional pieces. A few of my favorites are listed above. They can help take just about any piece in your closet and help you wear it for a few more weeks.
My very favorite piece to help transition to the cooler weather is a statement necklace. I find myself buying them more and more and incorporating them into my daily attire. I think they are a great way to dress up a casual top and can really help change the look of an outfit.
I have become a huge fan of animal sweaters lately. No matter what the animal, I find that I need it in my closet. Wearing them with a pair of shorts is a perfect transitional look.
Leather is EVERYWHERE these days and I think a leather skirt is the perfect way to wear the look without being too hot. Even though the weather has been a little cooler, we are still seeing mid-80s during the day around here which really prohibits the wear of leather jackets. These skirts go with just about everything and are a great addition to any closet.

Day Date

Top: J.Crew  Shorts: Banana Republic   Necklace: Stella and Dot  Shoes: Steve Madden  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Watch: Michael Kors

This past weekend, Brad and I decided to have a day date to celebrate dating for 3.5 years. I know, it's nerdy, but I loved it. We woke up and he made breakfast before we stopped for coffee and a day of house hunting (one of my favorite things to do). We visited about 10 open houses and then hit the greens for a competitive game of mini golf. I have been begging to go for years and he finally caved and took me out for an afternoon on the links. I loved every minute of it… minus the very last minute where my ball got stuck (in the craziest place ever-- I swear, it would take thousands of hits to repeat this hit) and I ended up losing by one. Oh well, I DID get a hole in one while we were playing earning us a free game next time.
I will definitely be winning the rematch.

Confession: I did not golf in my wedges.

LBD + Silver

Dress: Ann Taylor Similar Style  Shoes: Steve Madden  Watch: c/o The Watch Company  Bracelets: Stella and Dot  Necklace: gifted  Purse: Apt. 9 Similar Style

Two of my favorite ways to dress up an LBD: a bright purse and fun jewelry. I was so excited to finally pull out some of my silver jewelry after The Watch Company reached out to me regarding their watches. As I've mentioned many times, especially here, I've been looking for a new silver watch for awhile. While I can't get enough of my gold Michael Kors, I thought it was time for something that went with gold AND silver jewelry. When this watch arrived in the mail I knew it was just what I was looking for. The silver band with gold accents is a great accessory that I can pair with all of my jewelry.
