So, last Friday, I woke up extra early (read: 4:45am) to head to the airport and fly to Vegas for a daylong work trip. I decided to shoot these pictures before flying down south and realized how hard it is to take photos when the sun isn't up. Oops. At least they halfway turned out.

I got to Vegas bright and early Friday morning and then grabbed some quick coffee and bagels with my coworkers before a day in the office. We stopped midday for a delicious lunch here and then went back to finish up our day. At the end of the day, my boss suggested I switch my flight home so we could go see Absinthe at Caesars. I excitedly changed my flight to the last flight home and prepared for the show. Once we got to Caesars, I realized that there was no way I was going to make it to the airport in time to catch my flight flight so I changed my flight (again) to Saturday morning.

After the show, we decided to grab a late night dinner and then head back to the hotel. Sadly, I had nothing on me but my computer and this outfit so we stopped and grabbed some toothpaste and contact solution before checking into my fancy room.

It was pretty much the best work trip yet. I heart Vegas sometimes.

What A Classic

The most classic thing in any woman's closet: a pencil skirt. I love pairing them with just about anything, but the most simple, classic look is a basic fitted tee. I recently discovered this one at Target (I know, I am obsessed with Target tees) but this one can easily be dressed up-- especially with some statement jewelry pieces. I love how easy and classic this look is and it can be worn in almost any office. This is definitely a look I wear on a routine basis.

When the weather is humid and rainy, I feel like I lose a lot of my creativity in the mornings. I would prefer to just be in sweats, watching movies and not leaving the couch. Because I do not have that luxury, I decided to wear a classic: a black pencil skirt. Black pencil skirts are such a great staple item in every closet because they go with everything. They can dress up a plain shirt (see above) or create a classic look with a suit. They can be worn so many ways and flatter every body type.

What are some staples you can't live without?

Nautical Stripes

I cannot get enough of nautical apparel in the summer. Blue and white look so crisp and perfect together on a hot summer day. Lately I have been pairing all of my blue outfits with gold shoes but I went back to an old favorite today: red shoes. I think that they create such a patriotic feel that looks great with the nautical theme of the blue and white stripes. All I need now is an anchor bracelet. Here is one I love.
