Summer Staple

Dress: c/o eShakti  Shoes: Shoemint  Clutch: J.Crew  Watch: Michael Kors  Necklace: J.Crew Factory similar here  Sunglasses: Isaac Mizrahi  Bracelet: Macy's similar here

A few weeks ago, eShakti reached out to me and asked me if I would like to sample one of their super cute dresses. I had heard of this company before, but only from other bloggers, never because I had actually tried their products. I spent far too long debating which dress I wanted to wear, but finally decided on this adorable striped number. I have been obsessing over stripes lately and this was a great way to step away from my navy blue obsession.

The dress arrived in just over a week after ordering it (I mean, they are customized, so a week sounded good to me!) and it just needed a little ironing after pulling it out of the box. I am not a pro with an iron so I apologize for the few wrinkles I couldn't remove. But, OMG, this dress fit perfectly. I knew that I submitted some sizing/ measurements when I ordered the dress, but I honestly didn't think the dress would fit SO well. Totally. In. Love.

So, if you are looking for a whole bunch of cute dresses that are reasonably priced (ahem, wedding season) the I highly suggest ordering from eShakti. Only, make sure you are better with an iron than I am.

You can also check them out on Twitter and Pinterest for more outfit inspiration.

Also, just a reminder about my event in Reno THIS Thursday
Hope to see you then!

Really, Really Cold

Top: H&M very similar here  Jacket: Old Navy  Necklace: J.Crew Factory  Jeans: Rock & Republic  Boots: Frye  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs

So, I'm not quite sure why no one warned me... but this past weekend was really, really cold. I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea to try and get some outfit pics in, but it was a terrible, terrible idea. I woke up on Sunday before heading out for an adventure and thought it was a great time to sneak in a quick photo shoot. Wrong. It was eleven degrees. Yes, eleven.

I think after about 6 minutes outside I had lost feeling in my toes and ran back to my car and cranked up that heater. Lesson learned. No photos when it's this cold.

Summer, where are you? I am missing you so badly right now.

Battling Humidity

Happy July! Can you believe we are already halfway through 2013?

Because we are now in the middle of summer, it's time to talk about one of my least favorite things to deal with during the hotter months: humidity. I am still a newbie to the world of humidity and seem to have a lot of trouble finding ways to look put together when it is so hot. I've also found that my hair can't possibly look good unless it is on the top of my head.

I wore this outfit last week during one of the most humid days we've had. It was about 95% humidity when I left for work and there was literally no hope for my hair. I decided that a striped top and bright skirt were the only things to cheer me up on this muggy day. I grabbed a white cardigan for the office because we all know office buildings love to crank AC in the summer.

What do you do to battle the humidity?

New Bangs

Top: Zara Similar Style  Sweater: J.Crew  Jeans: JOE'S  Shoes: Ann Taylor  Bracelet: Stella and Dot  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

As you may have noticed yesterday, I finally cut my bangs the way I have been hoping to for months. I always get nervous about getting full bangs, but love the results when I do. I think bangs can make such an impact for very little work.
What are you thoughts on bangs? Do you love them? Hate them?

Wearing a Dress as a Top

Dress (worn as a top): Old Navy  Skirt: H&M Similar Style  Shoes: gifted  Bracelet: gifted  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

A few days ago, I decided to try wearing a dress as a skirt (seen here). Today, I decided to wear a dress as a top. I am all about remixing outfits these days and this is my latest attempt. I saw this dress a few weeks ago and fell in love with the color blocking. When it finally arrived in the mail, I decided it is much more versatile than I originally thought. It can be work as a dress, a top, with a blazer, etc. I am so excited to wear this dress as many ways as possible because I can't get enough of this color combination.
How have you been remixing clothes lately?

Red Hot

Top: Zara (no longer available)  Skirt: The Limited other colors available  Shoes: Marc Fisher  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelet: Stella and Dot

Yesterday, when temperatures reached 100 degrees here in DC, I was not looking forward to walking around town, to the metro, etc. I kept thinking how hot it was going to be and wanted to wear something red. I am not sure why but I always associate those two words in my head. I remembered this red skirt I have and paired it with one of my favorite striped tops (also seen here).
What do you think of this patriotic pairing? Is it something you would wear to stay cool in the summer sun?

Nautical Stripes

Top: Zara Similar Style  Skirt: H&M Similar Style  Shoes: Michelle D Similar Style  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot

I cannot get enough of nautical apparel in the summer. Blue and white look so crisp and perfect together on a hot summer day. Lately I have been pairing all of my blue outfits with gold shoes but I went back to an old favorite today: red shoes. I think that they create such a patriotic feel that looks great with the nautical theme of the blue and white stripes. All I need now is an anchor bracelet. Here is one I love.

march day fifteen: stripes

Sweater: Ann Taylor
Dress: Target
Heels: not pictured or available online

Today I decided my photo of the day would be stripes.

The temperature outside is currently 80 degrees and rising. It definitely feels like summer.

I stuck with my neon theme from yesterday-- I am really into the bright colors this year and want to flood my closet with them. They are so fun!
