The past few days have been cool and rain-filled... a perfect excuse to pull out some of my new favorites from Old Navy, like this lightweight sweatshirt. I fell in love with the color while wandering through the store and knew it was the perfect piece to start transitioning to fall. I know that temps will be back in the 90s today (yay summer!) but the couple of cool days we recently had really has me excited for fall. I forgot how great my favorite season truly is.  Oh, and if you're looking for a great new (and quite inexpensive) bag, I think you should check out the current selection at ON. This bag is full price online but I snagged it in the store for only $12. How great is that?

This. Sweatshirt.

This weekend I am pretty excited to hop back on a plane and spend the weekend at the beach in San Diego. Because the weather will be much cooler by the water (woo hoo!) I am already pulling out comfy sweatshirts and lots of layers to make sure I pack just the right stuff. This sweatshirt is no exception and I plan on wearing it over my bathing suit or to the beach at night. I see it getting a lot of use over the next few days. Plus, if it's cool enough during the day, it pairs easily with cute shorts like this striped pair from J.Crew.

How do you wear loungewear outside of the house?

Mirrored Sunglasses

Top: Target (love this one!)  Shorts: Old Navy  Shoes: Keds x Kate Spade more here  Bracelets: Stella and Dot similar here  Watch: La Mer  Sunglasses: Isaac Mizrahi identical here

It seems like everywhere I look these days I spot a pair of mirrored sunglasses. I actually hated them at first but they have really grown on me over the past few months. Because of my new found love for them, I finally broke down and bought a pair. While I still am not sure if they will replace my beloved Ray-Bans, I am pretty excited about wearing them to Tahoe this weekend with a bathing suit and a tan. Plus, these shades have great protection in them and everything seems dark and blueish-purple. PERFECT for the beach.

Red, Black and White

Sweatshirt: Target very similar online here  Jeans: Rock & Republic very similar and on sale here  Shoes: Nine West  Sunglasses: DVF  Necklace: Stella and Dot

I have no idea why, but for some reason, these pants look like they have an ombre tint in almost every one of these photos. I'll chock that up to a bad photographer (ahem, me) but still choose to use them. I actually love every part of this outfit--even though it is super casual. I snagged this sweater on clearance at Target for a whopping $5.99. I mean, a $5 sweatshirt that has the potential to be dressed up? I'm sold. I had no idea how warm it was until I actually wore it and was lucky enough to put this outfit together last weekend when we had a high of sixty degrees. Can you say no coat? Love it. Now, if only the weather would get back to that tolerable level because I am really over these freezing cold temps.

This Is Me

So often, when people chat with me about my blog, I get asked a lot of the same questions. I decided to post some of the more frequent ones today:

1. Do you wear heels every day?
Surprisingly, this is the most common question people ask me. The short answer is no.  While I love wearing heels and tend to wear them to work 3-5 days per week, I am definitely a fan of flat shoes. I actually own many more pairs of flats and sandals than I do heels. On the weekends, you can find me in boots in the colder months and sandals in the summer. I actually think sandals are my favorite type of footwear but I just can't pull them off in these cold months.

2. Who takes your pictures?
This is a question that also comes up almost every time someone asks about my blog. Many people used to think that Brad took my photos, but I think we only tried that once or twice-- I would end up getting mad or I wouldn't like the angles, I don't know, it just never worked out. I actually take 100% of my own photos. I used to be kind of embarassed about this but it has actually taught me a lot about photography (and how to use a DSLR and Photoshop) but I think that it also has taught me humility. It's kind of crazy to introduce yourself to someone and then somehow mention later in the conversation that you take photos of yourself every day... yeah, that doesn't sound self-absorbed. Luckily, I have gotten over that and really have embraced the art that is self photography. And let me tell you, it is not nearly as easy as it looks.

3. Do you shop more because you have a fashion/ style blog?
I think the reason that I shop more these days is because I READ more fashion and style blogs. I routinely find myself falling in love with things that other bloggers have written about and make it my mission to acquire some of these products. A few things that I discovered on blogs: this coat, this scarf and this top.

4. Do you dress up more because you have a blog?
Honestly, no. I am the type of girl who is most comfortable in a pair of skinny jeans and a sweatshirt (like the photos above) but also feels really girly and pretty in fancy dresses and skirts. Most often, on the weekends, you can find me in very casual attire but I really enjoy dressing up for work Monday- Friday. Sure, there are days that I really want to throw on a pair of jeans for work, but that typically ends up inspiring some creative ideas in hopes of looking work appropriate, yet still very comfortable.

5. Can I be on your blog?
This is, by far, one of my favorite questions that people ask and it's pretty crazy how often people say this to me. Of course! I am always happy to host guest bloggers on here and would love to see what creative ideas you come up with. If you have something in mind, email me! I love hearing from you.
