Last weekend's weather was exactly what I've been waiting for: cold, rainy, and cloudy. As soon as I woke up to a cool wind coming through my windows I knew exactly what I wanted to wear: fleece-lined tights. I remember living in them last winter but forgot how amazingly comfortable these bad boys were until I put them on with my favorite boots. Now that I am familiar with how great they are again, they are obvi going to become a staple in my wardrobe. Sorry I'm not sorry I plan on living in tights this winter.

Neon + Neutrals

Dress: Amanda Uprichard  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Sweater: J.Crew  Scarf: similar here  Bracelet: Kate Spade  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Pac Sun

One of my favorite pairings of all time has to be neon and neutrals. I think it's something about the way the neon pops against the neutral color. Instead of sticking with just simple black and white, I wanted to pair this neon dress with one of my new favorite neutrals: leopard print. Somehow prints have snuck into the neutral category in my book and I couldn't be more thrilled to wear them on a more routine basis.
Also, this dress was a find a few weeks ago when I attended the Last Call by Neiman Marcus event hosted by Maria.  I saw this dress and it screamed summer brunches to me. But, in my usual fashion of not being able to wait, I decided to pair it with tights and boots and throw it on for what I am hoping is the last of our winter weather.

Calm Before the Storm

Sweater: Forever 21 similar here  Scarf: Zara similar here  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Hat: H&M similar here  Sunglasses: Pac Sun  Bracelet: Kate Spade  Watch: Michael Kors

Well, here we are again. Another snow storm. Luckily, I was able to snap these photos yesterday before the temperatures got even colder. But don't let the sun trick you in these photos-- it was anything but warm while taking these pics.

I am not going to lie-- I can see myself in this outfit, or variations of this outfit, many times over the next few weeks. Between the packing, moving and the fact that most of my clothes are already packed, I definitely see a lot of leggings in the immediate future. At least I didn't pack up ALL of my accessories so there are plenty of ways to dress up this simple, casual outfit.

Simply Stated

Dress: Target similar here  Tights: Target  Boots: Frye  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff  Necklace: Stella and Dot similar here and on sale!  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot and Alex and Ani  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs

Some days the perfect outfit is a simple LBD and a statement necklace-- my go-to on hectic mornings. The past few days have been full of early meetings and longer commutes so there has been less time for getting ready and more time stuck in traffic. Yesterday it took me over an hour to get to my first meeting on time. It definitely made me thankful for my normal 8 minute commute to work.

Mini Bows

Have you ever had a piece of clothing that had a great story behind it? Well, this sweater definitely has one. I had been eyeing this sweater since J.Crew released it months ago but I was hesitant to buy it with a $130 price tag. I figured that if I just waited a few weeks (or months) it would go on sale and the price would drop to something a little more affordable. Well, I was right, and about one month ago, the price dropped to $79. I figured that was a much more affordable price and started looking at it daily online. I know, I have a problem with commitment here and there.

Well, the day J.Crew announced 40% off sale items I knew it was the perfect day to buy. I put the small sweater in my shopping cart (online) and then decided that paying $8 for shipping was silly when we have about five J.Crew stores in the area. I ended up not buying the sweater online only to find out that all the smalls were sold out online that day. Uh oh. It was time to hit the stores in the area.

I started at the J.Crew store in Pentagon City only to find two sweaters left in the store: both mediums. Sadly, I walked out of the store and went straight for the store in Metro Center. After wandering around for about ten minutes, I found nothing but one medium. The store clerk asked if he could help me find something and I asked him if he knew where I could track down a small. He started searching the system and said that he found one. YAY! I asked him where it was so I could drive over and pick it up.

Well.... the closest small sweater was in New Hampshire. Welp, so much for driving. He said he would order the sweater for me but there was an $8 shipping fee. (Um, I should have just committed the first time and saved myself all of this running around.) I asked him to please order it because at this point it was obvious that I really wanted this sweater.

Guess what? He waved the shipping. Oh, and he said that the sale was 50% off in the store... and the sweater was a total of $40. I could not be happier about owning this sweater... especially at this price! What a deal! Oh, and if you can find this sweater in a store near you, I would recommend grabbing it asap. It is so easy to wear with everything and it's just about the most comfortable thing ever.

Plaid Dress

Because the weather has been nothing but freezing lately, I've lost my motivation to put together a fancy outfit. Warm + comfortable have been the only things on my mind while getting ready each morning. This simple dress plus my fleece-lined tights totally fit the bill earlier this week. Now, just another day or so of these freezing temps and we will finally be hitting 40  degrees this weekend.

Again, I am soooo ready for spring.

Really, Really Cold

Top: H&M very similar here  Jacket: Old Navy  Necklace: J.Crew Factory  Jeans: Rock & Republic  Boots: Frye  Watch: Michael Kors  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs

So, I'm not quite sure why no one warned me... but this past weekend was really, really cold. I have no idea why I thought it was a good idea to try and get some outfit pics in, but it was a terrible, terrible idea. I woke up on Sunday before heading out for an adventure and thought it was a great time to sneak in a quick photo shoot. Wrong. It was eleven degrees. Yes, eleven.

I think after about 6 minutes outside I had lost feeling in my toes and ran back to my car and cranked up that heater. Lesson learned. No photos when it's this cold.

Summer, where are you? I am missing you so badly right now.

Colored Cords

Top: J.Crew similar here  Sweater: Target  Pants: J.Crew Factory  Boots: Frye  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot here and here

I've had these pants for at least a year now and I am pretty sure I have only worn them once. The concept of wearing colored cords is something I've yet to wrap my brain around. I fell in love with these pants while I was searching for some lighter-colored pants (that were not khaki), and after buying them, I had no idea how to wear them. So, there they sat, in the back of my closet waiting for their time to shine. Fast forward twelve months and I finally pulled these bad boys out as I needed something to break up my black/ navy/ grey routine.

How do you wear colored cords?
