I think I bought this baseball sweater at least twelve months ago and this is the first time I have actually pulled it out of my closet. I have always been a huuuge fan of baseball tees but for some reason, I hate the way they look on me. I am not sure if it's the angles or the colors or what-- but I always love them so much more on other people.

Well, this sweater was also not really what I expected when it arrived in the mail, but I kind of love it for the summer. I think I always envisioned it as more of a fall piece, but now that I have paired it with shorts and sandals, I am kinda loving the way it all comes together. Perhaps I should have pulled this out of my closet at the beginning of summer and gotten a few more wears out of it.

Pink, White and Blue

Dress: c/o The Mint Julep Boutique  Shoes: Shoemint  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot and J.Crew similar here  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff

I could not have been more excited when the ladies at the Mint Julep Boutique reached out to me earlier this month. I immediately fell in love with just about everything on their website and wanted to order one of each. This dress became my dress of choice because we all know I can't get enough of navy and white stripes these days... and pairing it with pink? Heaven.

I wore this outfit down to the river yesterday for lunch with one of my besties. It was great to catch up on everything that has happened over the past week and even catch the end of the depressing USA soccer game. This dress could not have been a better pick for the 100+ degree temperatures and the slight bit of wind we hit while walking back to the car. My friend even loved it so much she went straight home to check out the website. I highly suggest you do the same. These dresses are faaaabulous.

A few days ago I mentioned how much I am loving shorts this year... well, I think my love for them has only grown since that post. I am not really sure why I am so obsessed but I feel like I want to wear shorts everywhere these days. Luckily, I've learned there are a few places I should leave my shorts at home and throw on a skirt or a dress, but I seriously think everyone should jump on this shorts train asap.

Also, while I am rambling about how awesome shorts are, I want to give a big shout out to Old Navy. As I have grown up a little (read: gotten older and can no longer dress like I am in college) I have found it almost impossible to find flattering shorts that are more than two inches long. Old Navy has tons and tons of shorts that are multiple lengths and ridiculously comfortable. They have been my go-to for cheap, comfy shorts lately and this pair is no different. Oh, and this is not a sponsored post. Old Navy is just seriously killing it in the shorts department lately.

Camouflage

For months now I have been wanting to add some camo to my life and it has taken me awhile but when I first spotted this sweatshirt I knew it was the perfect way to add this look to my wardrobe. I can't seem to get enough of these crew neck sweatshirts lately and finding one in camo was heaven-sent. I waited a few days to wear it as it was SNOWING last weekend but now that we are back to normal temperatures I was able to pair it with my favorite white skinnies.

Summer Blues

summer blues
Nothing screams summer to me more than red, white and blue... and of course, a little gold. This romper jumped out at me last week while I was looking for summer gear and I realized how excited I am to put the romper trend to good use this year. I have one in my closet that is still waiting for the tags to be removed and I am hopeful that the next few weeks are warm enough to finally pull it out.

I am loving this look not only for weekends around town but also trips up to the lake-- even for fourth of July. It's pretty crazy that we are not too far off from the best time of the year! I don't think I have been this excited for summer in years!

My Favorite Things

I would be lying if I said anything I am wearing is not currently a favorite in my closet. This shirt. These jeans. This bag. Everything. Sometimes a girl just wants to throw on her favorites for a day at the salon and some errands. Speaking of the salon, I chopped a few inches off my hair and couldn't be more excited about it. It was time for a (small) change and my hair seems to always be the first to go when I am looking for something different.

What are some of your favorite go-to pieces?

Some days the perfect outfit is a simple LBD and a statement necklace-- my go-to on hectic mornings. The past few days have been full of early meetings and longer commutes so there has been less time for getting ready and more time stuck in traffic. Yesterday it took me over an hour to get to my first meeting on time. It definitely made me thankful for my normal 8 minute commute to work.

So often, when people chat with me about my blog, I get asked a lot of the same questions. I decided to post some of the more frequent ones today:

1. Do you wear heels every day?
Surprisingly, this is the most common question people ask me. The short answer is no.  While I love wearing heels and tend to wear them to work 3-5 days per week, I am definitely a fan of flat shoes. I actually own many more pairs of flats and sandals than I do heels. On the weekends, you can find me in boots in the colder months and sandals in the summer. I actually think sandals are my favorite type of footwear but I just can't pull them off in these cold months.

2. Who takes your pictures?
This is a question that also comes up almost every time someone asks about my blog. Many people used to think that Brad took my photos, but I think we only tried that once or twice-- I would end up getting mad or I wouldn't like the angles, I don't know, it just never worked out. I actually take 100% of my own photos. I used to be kind of embarassed about this but it has actually taught me a lot about photography (and how to use a DSLR and Photoshop) but I think that it also has taught me humility. It's kind of crazy to introduce yourself to someone and then somehow mention later in the conversation that you take photos of yourself every day... yeah, that doesn't sound self-absorbed. Luckily, I have gotten over that and really have embraced the art that is self photography. And let me tell you, it is not nearly as easy as it looks.

3. Do you shop more because you have a fashion/ style blog?
I think the reason that I shop more these days is because I READ more fashion and style blogs. I routinely find myself falling in love with things that other bloggers have written about and make it my mission to acquire some of these products. A few things that I discovered on blogs: this coat, this scarf and this top.

4. Do you dress up more because you have a blog?
Honestly, no. I am the type of girl who is most comfortable in a pair of skinny jeans and a sweatshirt (like the photos above) but also feels really girly and pretty in fancy dresses and skirts. Most often, on the weekends, you can find me in very casual attire but I really enjoy dressing up for work Monday- Friday. Sure, there are days that I really want to throw on a pair of jeans for work, but that typically ends up inspiring some creative ideas in hopes of looking work appropriate, yet still very comfortable.

5. Can I be on your blog?
This is, by far, one of my favorite questions that people ask and it's pretty crazy how often people say this to me. Of course! I am always happy to host guest bloggers on here and would love to see what creative ideas you come up with. If you have something in mind, email me! I love hearing from you.
