Spring, Where Are You?

In an attempt to make spring come as soon as possible, I decided to pull out this white blazer last week. I scored this blazer at my local goodwill for only $6 and am so excited to wear it with more than just black. I mean, it's a perfect summer staple that I couldn't wait any longer to wear. Now if only I could pair it with some neon and some shorts.

Ugh, where are you warm weather?

Black and White

One of my favorite trends right now is black and white. I love basic colors (as you probably noticed here and here) and think that a simple black and white combo can easily be dressy or casual. I wore this simple outfit for a day full of meetings and love the way my Lilly bangle stands out against the simple black and white dots.
Do you like the black and white look or do you prefer more color?

Finally Found It

For months now, I have been dying to find a silk button-up top that fits me well. I have checked many different stores and websites but just couldn't find the one. There are so many similar tops out there right now but I wanted one that was actually silk. I was so happy to stumble upon this shirt last week at J.Crew that I practically skipped to the register when I found it. I love how incredibly comfortable it is and I'm so glad I held out until I found the perfect silk top instead of settling for something less.

Have You Entered?

My Fall Back

As I have said before, wearing skinny black pants with a comfortable top is just about one of my favorite looks. I wore this on Friday because it truly is the perfect outfit for a busy Friday in the office. It was great for running from meeting to meeting, celebrating a birthday, and pairing with a warm coat for an outdoor wedding after work. It's such a classic look that I tend to fall back on time after time.

Big Mistake

As you may have noticed, the quality of my photos today is not the same as in the past. On Tuesday, as I was taking pictures for my blog, I made a huge mistake: I dropped my camera. My camera fell about five feet onto the cement. The lens will no longer attach to the camera body and I am worried about more internal damage as well.
I am taking my camera in to a shop I researched in DC today and I am hoping they will have some good news for me. Until then, my photos will probably not be of the best quality.

A Bright Start to the Week

It took me awhile, but I finally became obsessed with the baggy shirt look. I can't seem to get enough of it lately. I love the way these shirts look tucked in with skirts and just flowing loosely over pants. I seem to love them no matter what they are paired with.
When I bought this shirt, I planned on wearing with with suits and skirts. I pulled out these pants this morning and loved the casual look. Although, I decided to throw on some heels to dress up the outfit a bit for the work place.

Herringbone Shoes

This past Thursday, I was going through my Google reader when I found this post on The Daily Fancy, the blog by Matchbook Magazine. I have always loved this blog but this post especially caught my eye. I saw all of the shoes on there and just knew I had to have the herringbone flats. I have been looking at buying a pair of loafers for work and thought these might be perfect.
I went to the Gap online and saw that they were sold out in every size except size 5-- not good for me as I have much larger feet. I figured my only option was to head to the mall (and brave the back-to-school crowds) to see if I could find the shoes in person.
When I arrived at the store there were three pairs of the herringbone flats: two pairs of 5s and a 6. Not looking good. I asked the store manager if any shoes were hidden in the back and she brought me a brown pair in my size but she was unable to find the ones I had to have. As I was trying on the brown pair, she spotted a herringbone pair on the mannequin. She quickly took them off the mannequin to check the size-- I was so lucky! They were my size! I found one of the last pairs available in my size! I was so happy and impressed with the entire staff at the Gap. Everyone was so friendly and tried their best to help me.
I love when shopping adventures work out so well and I couldn't be happier to now own these shoes. They are incredibly comfortable and I know I will be wearing them for many of the colder months.

Day on the Hill

Happy Friday!
I am actually off work today but wanted to post pictures of an outfit I wore last week while attending a hearing on Capitol Hill. Because I knew there would be lots of walking, I planned my outfit around my flats. I love these flats and just recently discovered they come in other colors. Do you have a favorite pair of flats? I am definitely in need of more.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
