Takin' My Work Outside

It's no secret that I am loving working from home these days but every once and awhile it's nice to get out and work among other people. I have been frequenting a cute little coffee shop down the street and this week is finally warming up so I don't have to always sit inside. It's so nice to work from anywhere and people watch at the same time.

Also, how cute is that heart necklace? I have been into delicate jewelry lately and am loving this gold/ silver combo. Stay tuned later this week for an awesome giveaway from my friends over at Mall of Style!

Spring Pink

Happy first day of spring! After this winter I couldn't be happier about the change in seasons. While it has still been extremely cold, we are looking at a high in the 70s this weekend. I. Can't. Wait.

To me, pink is the ultimate spring color. Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and pink is everywhere. I wanted to welcome spring in the best way I know how: wearing lots of pink. Nails, shirts, etc. I plan on making this color much more a part of my outfits. I think wearing such a bright color is an instant way to cheer up... especially with all the gloomy weather we've had lately.

Cat Lady

Top: Gap  Sweatshirt: Forever 21  Jeans: JOE'S Jeans  Shoes: Guess  Bag: Phillip Lim for Target  Bracelets: J.Crew similar here and Stella and Dot  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

When I was in New Jersey for work last week, my coworkers and I found ourselves stopping by the mall after a day of training. Two of us ended up wandering around Forever 21 before the three of us decided we wanted to go bowling. I figured I would stop in the store to pick up a pair of socks before we hit the lanes and stumbled upon this sweatshirt. It was not on a rack with any others and it just so happened to be my size. I instantly fell in love and ran up to the cashier to buy it. I knew a cat sweatshirt was the perfect "cat lady" apparel to add to my closet but I never envisioned wearing it to work when I bought it.
Well, we got back to town and I couldn't get this sweatshirt off my mind and I really, really wanted to wear it to work for casual Friday. I brainstormed a few ways to wear it (leather jacket, black pants, etc.) but couldn't come up with one that I loved... until I found this polka dot button up in my closet. It was perfect. There was contrast, pattern, and hey, a cat face. What could possibly go wrong? I was so excited to wear this sweatshirt to work and the layers were a perfect way to combat the cold mornings we've been having lately.

Work Event

Very rarely do I talk about what I do for work here on the blog, but I wanted to share some photos from yesterday's event. I threw on this outfit (and was lucky enough to be able to wear jeans to work) and attended an event on Capitol Hill for my organization. I went to take photos and live tweet and post images on our social media accounts. It was a perfect day to be outside in the sun and a great opportunity to chat with members of Congress and see them support our mission.

The event included a giant chutes and ladders board for members of Congress to spin and play the game to learn more about early education. My favorite photo of the day was of Senator Casey counting hula hoops with a child outside the Capitol Building:

Leather Jacket

Top: Banana Republic  Jacket: J.Crew Other colors available  Sunglasses: Gas Station Similar Style  Jeans: JOE'S  Shoes: Guess  Necklaces: Stella and Dot  Ring: Stella and Dot

For the longest time, I have been dying to own a black leather jacket. I think they are so versatile and are incredibly timeless. I have seen so many different versions lately and was so happy when I finally found one in (real) leather in my size. I have been anxiously awaiting warm weather so I could pair it with a girly dress, but because the weather has not been cooperating, I had to go another route.
There is something about a leather jacket, jeans and a pair of aviators that I love. It reminds me of Hollywood: a little bit of glam and a little bit of edge.
What is your favorite way to wear a leather jacket?

Crazy Cat Lady

Top: Kintage  Jeans: JOE'S  Shoes: Nine West  Bracelets: Alex and Ani  Watch: Michael Kors

A few weeks ago, I was online looking for a black and white chevon shirt (which I am still looking for) when I came across my new favorite website: Kintage.com. I stumbled upon it when clicking a link from another blog and could not be happier to have found it. I love everything on this website! This crazy cat lady shirt is my new obsession and I want to wear it with everything. I can see it with jeans, dress pants, skirts and more. Plus, its full of cats. I can't get enough of it. Oh, and when I opened my package, I found a handwritten note from the owner of the store thanking me for my order. I love supporting small businesses and can't want to make my next purchase from Kintage.

Boston Bound

Top: Mossimo  Vest/ Belt: Custom-made by Anya Egoshina Similar Style  Jeans: JOE'S  Boots: Alfani

As I head to Boston today for a long weekend of fun, I decided to pull out my fur vest in preparation of the cold weather up North. I have been looking forward to this trip for weeks, but the cold weather is definitely something I am not prepared for. As cold as it has been here for the past few days, I am still not sure I am ready to battle the cold in Boston.
