Standing Out In Stripes

Dress: Banana Republic similar here  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs similar here  Necklace: gifted  Watch: c/o The Watch Company  Rings: Tiffany and Co., c/o Berricle and gifted  Shoes: Me Too  Bracelets: Stella and Dot here and discontinued

A few weeks ago, while prepping for my two weeks of travel including trip back to Washington, DC, I decided that my dress wardrobe needed a little updating. I hit up one of my favorite stores (I'm lookin' at you Banana Republic!) and decided that just one dress wouldn't do for the White House event. So, three dresses later, I walked out of the store, but not before falling in love with each employee there.

My mom and I went to the store just before closing and figured the employees might be annoyed that we came in as they were cleaning up. Wrong. They couldn't have been more helpful and fun. Honestly, I wanted to invite them out for drinks after but I knew I had an early morning the next day.

So, Banana Republic, thanks for always being there for me. I never leave your store unhappy and think that the team in Reno deserves an extra special shoutout today!

Work-Blog Balance

Dress: Forever 21 love this one!  Shoes: Sam Edelman  Necklace: J.Crew Factory similar here  Bag: Target similar here  Bracelets: Flea Market find and Stella and Dot  Watch: Michael Kors  Earrings: J.Crew Factory similar here  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs love these!

Today I want to pose a discussion question, rather than some random story about how crazy my life has been lately. (Some day soon I may share the story of missing my flight home on Tuesday, but we will leave that for another time.) Today I want to chat about how you, or other bloggers, balance their schedules. I am finding that this summer is far busier than summers in the past and I am worried about being able to get everything done on time.

For example, I have three trips coming up in the next few weeks, two of which run into each other meaning I won't be home for over a week. Plus, I have my real job, catching up with friends, dinners, and more.

So, how do you keep everything in balance? Do you have a monthly blog schedule? Do you set aside a time every day to blog? Do you schedule your posts weekly? I have heard of a variety of ways to keep blog posts consistent but I would love to hear what works best for you.

Please let me know in the comments.

Put a Bow on It

Top: J.Crew last seen here  Shorts: Old Navy  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff  Shoes: Target  Watch: c/o The Watch Company  Bracelets: Stella and Dot and Kate Spade  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

A few days ago I mentioned how much I am loving shorts this year... well, I think my love for them has only grown since that post. I am not really sure why I am so obsessed but I feel like I want to wear shorts everywhere these days. Luckily, I've learned there are a few places I should leave my shorts at home and throw on a skirt or a dress, but I seriously think everyone should jump on this shorts train asap.

Also, while I am rambling about how awesome shorts are, I want to give a big shout out to Old Navy. As I have grown up a little (read: gotten older and can no longer dress like I am in college) I have found it almost impossible to find flattering shorts that are more than two inches long. Old Navy has tons and tons of shorts that are multiple lengths and ridiculously comfortable. They have been my go-to for cheap, comfy shorts lately and this pair is no different. Oh, and this is not a sponsored post. Old Navy is just seriously killing it in the shorts department lately.

Dressin' Up

Dress: Marimekko x Banana Republic  Shoes: Steve Madden similar here  Clutch: J.Crew  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Rings: gifted  Necklace: Elaine B. Jewelry

What a weekend! I had quite an action-packed weekend and it looks like this week is going to be nothing short of busy either. Friday night started off with a reunion over dinner with some of my sorority sisters who were in town. It was so fun catching up over some beers and delicious food. We ended up making our way downtown over the course of the evening, only to run into more friends that were visiting. Nothing beats catching up with old amigas!

Saturday was spent helping my mom update her wardrobe before running off to a friend's graduation party wearing this dress. We sipped on sangria while watching the Belmont Stakes and then I was off to my dad's to celebrate his birthday. (Today is his actual birthday, Happy Birthday Dad!) We had a great dinner, minus the rain, and spent the evening chatting outside and catching up. I finished off the night with some fancy cocktails with friends at a new bar near my house.

Sunday was my favorite day of the weekend because my BFF from high school was in town and we went to breakfast. It's been years (okay two) since we last saw each other and it was so much fun to see her. I then spent the day running errands with another great friend before winding up at the pool. After spending the day with some of my favorites, I was then talked into buying a flight and heading to my sorority convention in Las Vegas in just a few days. I seriously cannot wait to see everybody when I arrive. This now makes four trips in the month of June. Yay!

Hope your weekend was just as fabulous!

Stripes and Brights

Top: Banana Republic similar here  Jeans: Ann Taylor other colors available  Shoes: Nine West  Necklace: J.Crew Factory similar here  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot here and here and Alex and Ani  Ring: Kate Spade and gifted

Now that spring is officially here (on the calendar) I can't get enough color in my outfits. Yesterday I wore bright pink to celebrate the new season and today I decided to throw on my brightest jeans. I've loved these jeans since the day I bought them a few years ago and discovering that AT still makes them in other colors is dangerous. They are one of (if not the most) comfortable pairs of pants that I own. I may have to buy the new teal color that recently came out. A girl can own two pairs of teal jeans, right?

I am getting pretty excited for this weekend. While I don't have a lot planned right now, it's my second to last weekend in DC and I am hoping to get a few things knocked off my DC Bucket List. It's going to be a perfect weekend for outdoor activities so I am hoping to get at least 3 items checked off the list.

Tights Free is the Way to Be

Dress: Final Touch similar here  Bandeau: similar here  Shoes: Nine West  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Watch: Michael Kors  Necklace: Elaine B. Jewelry  Bracelets: Baublebar and Stella and Dot here and here and Alex and Ani

I'm not sure if it's the few days of nice weather or the fact that things have been extremely crazy (in every aspect of my life) but I have been turning to dresses almost every day this week. While I am more of a skirt + shirt kind of girl, the ease of a dress has made getting ready for work this week a breeze. Not to mention, the fact that I am wearing these dresses sans tights is making me one happy camper.

Spring, Where Are You?

Top: similar here  Blazer: Zara similar here  Pants: Gap  Necklace: Elaine B. Jewelry  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Shoes: Nine West

In an attempt to make spring come as soon as possible, I decided to pull out this white blazer last week. I scored this blazer at my local goodwill for only $6 and am so excited to wear it with more than just black. I mean, it's a perfect summer staple that I couldn't wait any longer to wear. Now if only I could pair it with some neon and some shorts.

Ugh, where are you warm weather?

Windowpane

Top: Target (not available online) similar here  Skirt: similar here  Shoes: Nine West  Necklace: ILY Couture  Clutch: Michael Kors similar here  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Earrings: J.Crew Factory  Ring: Kate Spade

My current pattern of choice: windowpane. This is my second windowpane print shirt in the last few months and every time I see this pattern I am reminded of how much I love it. I think it's because it is so simple but so much more exciting than a solid-colored shirt. Pairing it with a pop of color is definitely my favorite way to wear it.

My Favorite Things

Top: J.Crew  Blazer: Target  Jeans: 7 for all Mankind  Bag: Rebecca Minkoff  Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  Watch: Michael Kors  Bracelets: Stella and Dot and c/o Petits Tresors  Rings: gifted  Necklace: Elaine B. Jewelry

I would be lying if I said anything I am wearing is not currently a favorite in my closet. This shirt. These jeans. This bag. Everything. Sometimes a girl just wants to throw on her favorites for a day at the salon and some errands. Speaking of the salon, I chopped a few inches off my hair and couldn't be more excited about it. It was time for a (small) change and my hair seems to always be the first to go when I am looking for something different.

What are some of your favorite go-to pieces?
