Calm Before the Storm

Sweater: Forever 21 similar here  Scarf: Zara similar here  Tights: HUE  Boots: Frye  Hat: H&M similar here  Sunglasses: Pac Sun  Bracelet: Kate Spade  Watch: Michael Kors

Well, here we are again. Another snow storm. Luckily, I was able to snap these photos yesterday before the temperatures got even colder. But don't let the sun trick you in these photos-- it was anything but warm while taking these pics.

I am not going to lie-- I can see myself in this outfit, or variations of this outfit, many times over the next few weeks. Between the packing, moving and the fact that most of my clothes are already packed, I definitely see a lot of leggings in the immediate future. At least I didn't pack up ALL of my accessories so there are plenty of ways to dress up this simple, casual outfit.

Shopping Weekend

Top: Forever 21  Leggings: Legale  Boots: Bandolino  Necklace: ILY Couture  Sunglasses: Ray-Ban  Rings: gifted  Bag: Forever 21 very similar here

This past weekend was full of running around town scoring a few Black Friday deals and, of course, celebrating Small Business Saturday. I wanted to be extra comfortable while standing in lines and driving around so I threw on the most comfortable outfit I could think of: a baggy sweater and plush-lined tights. These tights are a new addition to my huge collection of leggings, but they were a great purchase. They are extra warm with the additional layer of lining and I could not have been more comfortable cruising the city in this outfit.

Did you have any great finds over the shopping weekend? If not, there is still time with Cyber Monday today! I am sure I will be visiting a few sites... but I am hoping to pull away from the web for a bit and head out to celebrate my birthday with some friends.

Happy December!

Let's Hear it for the Boy(s)

For years, I searched and searched for the perfect baggy sweaters to pair with leggings and boots for extremely cold weather. I never could find a sweater that fit the way I wanted, no matter where I looked. Finally, one day last winter, it hit me: why not shop in the men's section? With so many looks that are fitted or cropped this season, I have found myself buying men's clothes more and more to achieve just the look I want. Some days just call for lots of layers and a baggy sweater.
Another great find in the men's department is plaid. There is always a great selection and the shirts have a much looser fit. While the plaid top I am wearing above is women's, I have been eyeing a few men's shirts lately such as this one and this one.
Have you ever found anything great in the men's department?

Sweater Weather

Sweater weather is one of my favorite times of the year. That is, until I get so tired of all my sweaters and boots and start counting down the days until summer and the freedom of skirts without tights. Because I've got plenty of time until I hit that point, I was so excited to see this week's Friday's Fancies theme.
I have been on the lookout for some great new sweaters as of late and a few of my faves are listed above. #2 and $5 are my favorites by far. But how cute is #4?
I actually fell in love with a cat sweater last year similar to the one above and by the time I went to buy it, it was only available in xxs. I am hoping to order it much sooner this year and own that crazy adorable sweater before it's too late.
I've also been seeing Aztec prints everywhere these days and that sweater looks like it would pair perfectly with tights and a cozy scarf. Just talking about those warm things gets me so excited for the sweater weather we are finally having.
Have a great weekend!

One of my favorite things about cold weather is the option to wear warm over-sized sweaters. One of my favorite combinations (especially on the weekends) is a pair of tights and a big sweater. It is the ultimate comfort outfit and is ideal for running errands. Plus, when it is really cold, you can just throw on a coat and that's all you need. Well, maybe a pair of gloves too.

My Fall Back

As I have said before, wearing skinny black pants with a comfortable top is just about one of my favorite looks. I wore this on Friday because it truly is the perfect outfit for a busy Friday in the office. It was great for running from meeting to meeting, celebrating a birthday, and pairing with a warm coat for an outdoor wedding after work. It's such a classic look that I tend to fall back on time after time.

Battling the Cold

Sweater: Buffalo David Bitton Similar Style  Pants: Gap  Boots: Bandolino  Glasses: Coach  Ring: Stella and Dot

Today I wanted to wear something warm and comfortable to celebrate the end of the week. This baggy sweater is exactly what I was looking for. It is really warm and a perfect way to battle this cold weather we are having these days.
Tonight I am heading out to NOVA Fashion Week here in Arlington, VA. I can't wait to see the great styles make their way down the runway. I will be sure to post pictures next week.
Have a great weekend!

Stormy Weather

Rain, tornado warnings and high winds are a few things I hate seeing on my weather app when waking up in the morning. Yesterday was one of those days. The weather was dreary all day. Muggy, rainy days are no fun… but giveaways are! I decided that the best way to combat this terrible weather is to host a new giveaway. I have included a pop-up poll in this post to see what kind of giveaway everyone would be most interested in. Be sure to vote!

Countdown to Fall

Happy Monday! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Fall. It is my favorite season of the year because it involves boots, sweaters, jeans and pumpkin spice lattes.  I wanted to include a few pictures of some of my favorite Fall styles that I can't wait to pull out of my closet over the next few months. I can't wait for the temperatures to drop!
What are some of your favorite Fall looks?

Oh, and in case you missed it Friday…check out this roundup from Fashion Treatment.
